i really like what you're saying here. the only thing i notice is the hole in the chest. it just looks like a texture layed on there...not like a whole. there's no depth.
but i gues there doesnt need to be. it gets the point across. its kind of like the minimalistic style of art...where its more about the idea than the tangible art.

They said that exact line in one of the older Simpsons episodes and something very similar happened after that. The hole around his heart could use a bit more shading around the edges. The hand and the shadow don't really match up because the is no shadow for the dripping blood. What you did with the background is great and I love the strong imagery.

as to the blood effect, if your using photoshop 6 or above the technique goes like this:
1: create a new layer above your photo.
2: make some kinda of blood splatter shape (relative blood size)
3: set the 'layer mode' to darken or fiddle around and see what you think looks best as the layer blending mode.
4: duplicate your layer, you should notice it gets darker,.. rezise the blood splat a little bit so you get a darker colour in the center and lighter on the outside...
5: repeate step 4 untill your satisfyed it looks realish... and it does take a bit of practise to get the hang of it

- the blood on his chest could be a little darker, looks slightly fake
- the white spot in his mouth.... is that supposed to be teeth (if so, it's too white) if it's a mistake, it could be fixed easily.

GREAT job!.... wow... I'm very, very taken away... My favorite part of the whole thing is the little detail of including some fingerprints above the hole in the chest.... Just, that attention to detail makes the ENTIRE picture so much better in my mind
