Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (male)

This fluffy cheeked fellow had started nesting already. The breeding season is from August to January.

These noisy birds feed on berries, seeds, nuts and roots. They’re equally at home in the city and in the bush.

The eggs are laid in a tree hollow, which is prepared by both sexes. Both male and female cockatoos incubate and care for the chicks. The chicks remain with the parents all year round and family groups will stay together indefinitely.
