First of all this photo is a moment captured perfectly. It is so detailed it looks like the flutterby is ready to gracefully flutter away, the colors are vibrant and the atmospshere is palpatable. The wings of the butterfly especially, are breathtaking and almost mesmerizing to look at. i feel relaxed and pleasent while looking at this picture, i enjoy the work very much and hope to see more like it. The only bad thing i have to say is that the cropping could have been a little less severe. The close cropping makes the image feel cramped. This photo looks a little flat to me. With the fleeting moment you captured it would have been difficult to set it up in a different way, but if you try to re-create shots like this I would look for more dynamic lighting and greater visual contrast between foreground and background.
So far as composition, I think it would have been better to give the butterfly a little more space so its wings were entirely in the frame.
That being said, I like the colors in this shot. The yellow and red of the flowers out-of-focus in the background pick up nicely on the yellow and red of the butterfly's wing. This makes the image look quite natural.

This is the very first photograph i have seen up close of yours. I truly must say that it takes my breath away. I love how you took it right when it was drinking the nectar! I love seeing the legs and color. Its all so natural. This is a great shot, you must have been pretty close? I am so curious to know what kind of camera you use.
This almost makes me feel like i am laying in the flowers. The butterfly came and just landed!! Stunning absolutely stunning. I have a shot of a swallow tail butterfly but its not good like this one. This is a great shot truly. Thank you for sharing, and i cant wait to critique more of your photos.

I think you have captured the image rather well! I especially love the colour ranges here with the pink, yellow, green and orangy-red colours. I also think the butterfly is brilliant and you did very well capturing the butterfly perfectly (without any blur from movement!) while the background isn't focused which I think is a wonderful contrast. I especially love the two background flowers; how they're not quite focused but not quite out of focus either which really adds to the depth of the image. The lighting is wonderful and I especially love the feel of the butterfly and the flower in the front there's just something about the sharpness, lighting, shading, colours and over all imagery that really pops and brings such a beautiful concept and still life together into one fantastic shot.
If I was to say how to improve this then I would have liked to have seen a little more green/space above the butterfly, to the left of the image and at the bottom simply because while this image is lovely I feel it's been cropped a little too close for comfort and I would really have liked the butterfly to have been full (one wing is off the picture slightly which is a shame!). Or alternatively you could have improved by having an extra 3rd of the image to the right so that but butterfly was in the left (first of 3 equal sections) the flower on the top right would be in the middle of the image and then the extra third to the right.
Over all you’ve created a wonderful image; very bright, shiny and well captured. My only thoughts would be to think a little more about positioning and perhaps looking into "the rule of thirds" when it comes to photography. But brilliant shot, with great use of focus. I admire the dedication and patients I'm sure this picture required. Butterfly's are hard to capture I'm sure, and this picture is amazing, the colors are beautiful and eye catching, and the flower really seems to pop out the butterfly. To make this better it might have been nice to have just a little zoomed out, not a whole lot, just so that there is area round to look and make the flower and butterfly in the center. Though i am no expert, i think this picture was amazingly done. :]

My eyes are burning thanks to those intense colours now. My day instantly has been brightened up, since it's bloody gloomy here down south in France.

actually i didnt have my camera on me i was out working and only had my moms camera (my old camera)
