~allieykatt suggested an exercise to me based on this poll: [link] (regarding whether or not you feel like consciously create your characters' personalities, or whether they seem to have a life of their own).

The exercise: with nothing in mind, draw a random line or squiggle. Then draw something around it, and see what it becomes. I drew the starting lines in a different colour on a different layer, and also copied them so you can see what I started out with.

For me, it was hard not to start out by 'cheating' a bit, but it corrected itself. I was thinking of drawing cats (despite trying not to think of what to draw), but when I drew the first line, it just didn't feel like a cat, so I just started sketching, and it immediately became my Ibizan Hound, Bomber .

I thought the second one was going to be a horse, but nope, it turned into an Azawakh (~Payna 's Tatenda , to be exact.)

The third was tricky, because it was clearly an Akhilar, but not one of mine at all. In the end it's *attentionkennels ' Cahir .

I had absolutely no idea what to do with the last line, until I realized the loop could be a tail, at which point it became obvious. It's Syris
