Nice. I'm seriously considering downloading Bryce while its still free at DAZ 3D. I could be mistaken, but I think It was you who told me about it. I would be interested in 3D art mainly for creating comics, or is that very practical?

For 3d comics, I would recommend Daz-Studio PRO! A tool to create and animate human characters. Same page and also currently still free, just like Bryce.
Take both would be the best.

Ive now got both DAZ Studio 4.5 Pro and Bryce 7.1 Pro downloaded and installed. Just went through a 10 minute quick startup tutorial for DAZ Studio there on the site, which I'll be posting shortly. Can't wait to try playing around in it some more. My next question is, how can I make my own stuff (clothes and accessories without buying stuff from third party vendors that is only halfway what you had in mind?

3d modeling is one of the most complex jobs you can do with your computer and it's not possible to learn in a few days. But it's fun if you have learned the basics and a little bit stuff is quickly modeled. Look at good tutorials or purchase a book about your favourite modeling program. Actually I hate watching tutorials and I have begun with playing around in the program and by the time I found more and more features. But this isn't the best way, because it needs a lot of time to be a good 3d modeler.

I recently purchased Victoria 5 (to give a zing to the basic female genesis) FM jeans for Genesis when they were half price, and bought a gun package that was 75% off. My next baby step is usable backgrounds in DAZ (I'd like to be able to use my Bryce creations as a backdrop for DAZ Scenes.) I haven't made up my mind for sure yet but my favorite modeling program will probably end up being DAZ's Hexagon 2.5 (downloaded it when I got DAZ and Bryce for free)simply because it's designed to work with DAZ (at least its supposed to)

How did you do for a height map terrains. In the Terrain Editor, or applied to another program?

Mostly I draw the hight maps by hand in an image editor and modify them in the terrain editor.
