Neutral Density Photography Awards (ND Awards) invites photographers worldwide to submit their work for the ND Awards 2014: www.NDAwards.netND Awards aims to promote photography and photographers. Our idea is to create new opportunities to present most valuable work to the audiences all over the world. To build a place where photographers can show different points of view and thrive through competition.

Reminds me of the times of either WW1 or WW2.
You gave it a very dark and gloomy feel, that fits perfectly along the the idea of WW1 or WW2. The picture was well made, in my opinion, but I've seen many black and white pictures before. Even though this is a damn good picture, you still probably can't say that you thought of this all by yourself.
The technique was pretty good, and the vision was pretty good too. I especially like how you contrast the cloud colors in the sky.
But honestly, I felt very sad and gloomy when I saw the picture. That comes mostly from the aesthetic feel of the black and white.
In conclusion, I enjoy the picture very much. Going in my favorites!

I do not completely agree with this critique:

I believe that everyone gets influenced by other artists or art they see, their surroundings, friends and family,... Nobody creates a piece without any outside influences. Only when you live like a hermit.

I have seen many colored pictures before too. Ofcourse black and white is much used for adding a more arty look to a photograph, to make it more dramatic. But that's the quality of black and white. And many people make thousends of colored photos too. I think it is not really a good argument.

It's pictures like this that make me want to go back to the architecture photography I used to do back when I was a different person in a different time.
The angle of the composition is great, and it's such a versatile picture that even with different crops, such as totally removing the building on the right , would result in still a very interesting picture.
However, the building on the right does something great for balance and contrast -- contrast being the main striking effect of this photo. I find it very interesting that on the light part of the building on the left, the windows are dark, and on the dark part they're light.
The addition of a police car to the picture makes for a very interesting would-be story, and the ragged appearance makes me wonder what this place was like when it was alive, and what happened to it.
Also, I didn't fail to notice the juxtaposed symbol of the cross, defiantly shining from a darkened window, or the black cat crossing the road.

First of all, this is a beautiful piece of art. I like it.
The scene looks familiar and i am sure that i have seen similar ( if not the same place ) taken from different angle and different setup/settings.

It is an amazing image. the lighting effects make the picture stand out. The originality 4.5... Something says that iv'e seen pictures like this before. not of the same place, but of other places. the position of the camera really captures the scene quite well. the city seems to be wartorn, and the light effect makes that fact stand out. You can visualize the combat or riots or what ever it was that happened there, just by looking at this image. So, i say, impact, 5 stars. This captures my attention. I am not a big fan of photography like this, but this is breath taking.

first and foremost, let me just say that this is absolutely breath-taking. I absolutely adore it. everything from the placement of the camera angle, to the incredible lighting of everything. so forgive me if my critique of this piece is a bit lenient.
okay, so first of all Vision- I have to say, that this is a well deserved five, as I said before all the elements of this photograph are stunning. it's highly aesthetically pleasing, while still being incredibly touching. I feel that there's very little that could improve the Vision of this picture
as for originality, I need to go with a four, while the visual appeal of this piece is so wonderful, it bears a mighty resemblance to nostalgia of the 50's (I don't know if this is what you where going for)
technique- is also going to have to be a five, as I said in my reasoning for the vision, I feel that there's very little hat could add to this piece, so in turn there's very little I could negatively about the technique
so finally this leaves us with the impact, I'm going to say that it's a d.5, even with it's incredible Vision, and technique, and vent a four star on the originality originality aside, it's still lacking something to make it it a five.

"A Moment Suspended In Time" by angelreich is a photo you look at and say: Wow, that's a great animation!
Then you realise that it's a photo.
Vision:
I think this photo reflects 2 points of view.
First of all, it's almost unbelievable that a street like this exists.
Secondly it shows how beautiful the principe Form Follows Function + some time can be.
Originality:
Urban/Industrial (I'll count this as industrial too) photography is still not really common, but not the least known one.
The motive is also quite popular.
But the idea of photographing apartment houses is new.
Technique:
No comment.
Impact: When I saw this photo as a little preview, I stopped.
When I saw the big version I 0.0 for a while and then said "Whoa". I won't write more about this part.

It is a really great shot of a dirty street!
It looks like a setting for a Mafia-Movie !
This photo gives you a really dark feeling about what might lurk behind the next corner .
As long as i look on this picture i remember the street discribed in the short story Pickmans Model by Hovard Phillips Lovecraft .
It seems to be the perfect place for all kind of unknown evil !
Also it may fit in a story about war .
Just imagine this place as part of Stanley Kubriks Full Metal Jacket !
Anyway this photo can really turn on your darkest fantasys !

Vision: 4 stars
Despite *angelreich mentioning in the Artist's Comments that Lodz is home to many buildings dating as far back as the nineteenth century, this looks apocalyptic. He says he wanted to show the darkest side of the city; although I've never been, and therefore can't say whether he has succeeded, I know I don't need to go to know that this is dark.
Originality: 4 stars
There are lots of photographs of urban and rural areas, and I've seen lots of variations on this theme, so I award three stars. I give it an extra star because out of all the ones I've seen, I don't think I've seen anything as attention-grabbing as this.
Technique: 4 stars
I love the lighting, timing and setting of this piece.
Impact: 5 stars
I think it's stunning, and the 15,000+ deviants who have faved this piece have collectively spoken loudly and clearly. What more can I say?
