Description
A Pastel Drawing for my High School Drawing ClassSnow LeopardAfter many hours of work, this piece is finally complete! I am very satisfied with how it turned out, definitely my best pastel drawing so far. I'm a little iffy on the ears as they seem huge, but every artwork has its imperfection I suppose. ^^
This image portrays a Snow Leopard surrounded by wisps of blue light. In other words, an aura of the sorts. I'm somewhat unsatisfied with the way I was able to manipulate the lighting as I originally wanted it to be brighter, but it was fun trying to figure it all out.
At this moment I am unsure of the actual size of this piece, however it is pretty big... I'd estimate more than 24 inches in width alone. It will be cropped according to the line on the bottom right hand corner.
Please feel free to critique this work. I am always trying to find ways to improve. (:

I always have trouble making the colors look bright enough when I draw on black paper, especially when working with colors such as blue. What is your secret? >:o

I just layer the white on black. xD I add the first layer of white, blend, then add another, then blend, then I add some white pastel pencil, then blend some more, then another layer of the chalk. I just keep doing that until it looks good. :3 And the pastel pencils add amazing detail. ^^

I am way too addicted to ctrl+z, though. I always get so frustrated when drawing traditionally.

I'm like the exact opposite. I'm definitely more comfortable with drawing traditionally, digital I just haven't caught onto 100% yet.

Oh those block thingies. I also have a set of those, but I just use them to lay down color in the background and smudge it till it's just a big blurry blob of color. I am too scared to use them on my drawing subjects, because I kinda feel that I could too easily do something wrong with them xD
I think drawing traditional is a bit more relaxing than digital. but I feel like I have limited possibilities when I can't just pick the exact color I want, and of course, when I don't have the undo button.
Though, I think traditional drawings are the ones who make the most impact when you see them. Or at least, I think it is a more special feeling when you get to hold and touch a drawing than to view it on a computer monitor. x)
