i really didn't like dellinger when he was first introduced but goddamn when he attacked bellamy he was scary as fuck (in a good way). there are a lot of badass villains in one piece but there aren't many that i get such a visceral reaction to. something about such a cutely designed character that's so strong and so VICIOUS is just really horrifying. most one piece villains will fight for a bit, talk for a bit, fight for a bit, talk some more, and generally react with happiness, anger, shock, w/e thoughout the course of the fight. they also all seem to have a tendency to stand looking smug for 10+ seconds whenever they land a hit on whoever they're fighting and they're on the ground. dellinger just continuously kicks the ever loving shit out of his opponents non stop, all the while giggling with glee. in fact the only time i can remember dellinger looking anything other than overexcited in a fight is when hakuba comes out of nowhere and slices him up before he even realises whats going on, and that makes him way more disturbing than 90% of one piece villains to me.Ā
also given how young he is he's got masses of potential, so i really hope oda doesn't just put him in jail and forget about him. if (whisper of a dream) we ever get to see a one piece series 10+ years after luffy finds the one piece, i'd love dellinger to return as a super strong crime boss, maybe the new head of the donquixote pirates or a something. i honestly think he could easily be top 3 shichibukai level with a bit more time and experience
