Description Lydia, looking out a little used window in a oft used shopping mall. You get a cookie if you can guess where it was taken
I was trying to get light rays streaming in from the window. No idea how to get that effect naturally though.

It's completely unexpected and beyond my understanding. I prefer "The Garden" better...

well the garden would have been better in black and white, and if it was straightened.

That's a Beautiful shot. The glow from the window splashing on the interior is wonderful. I love that they're is a person included in this shot. Spectatular Interior be itself but the person in the shot really adds a level of emotion & perspective to the image. Well Done!

Thanks But I really think the border could use a little more imagination... Ideas?
By the way [link] is the person. Go give her a hug for being such a good sport

Perhaps play with just a white back ground. I'm a fan of minimalistic framing.
The image is so great that having a fancy border will distract from it. I suggested a white background because the majority of the image has a dark under-tone. The white wash over your exceptional model comes across as some sort of salvation. Or perhaps it's keeping the darkness away.
But on the other hand, I can see why you used a black border & I can see your problem with it being lost in the image. I like the black & it would probably work better as the white light is the high-light to the image so perhaps try duplicating a 1 pixel inside border instead of the 2-3pixel white border you have at the moment.
Bah! To many suggestions - sorry!
Keeping it simple & fine is the way to go - adds clarity & defines the motive.

Heh, thanks alot. But all these comments are making me aware I'm using a really boring border... Should I even be using one?

AristocraticAssassin In reply to xnsdvd [2005-08-24 16:51:37 +0000 UTC]

Honestly I don't think the border is need... but its not really hurting the picture if you are using it.. its all personal prefrence my dear ^^.

Beautiful use of light and great contrast. Great angle, too. It lets you get so much of the sceen with that great effect of the light coming in through the window. Love it!

fonepointfour [2005-08-23 19:12:02 +0000 UTC]

Very nice. To get good light rays, you need the area that isn't lit up by the window to be pitch dark. Dust, smoke or steam helps too.
