Uploading on the go at a stop between Dallas and home.
So here you go, the Octavia-Vinyl Scratch Duet, with another cheesy title. I like the set as a whole much more than I like either Octavia or Vinyl Scratch by themselves. I must admit that I didn't originally plan for this to be a single piece like this. They were always meant to be a two part set for but the idea of making them a single piece didn't occur until after I had made Octavia. Once it had occurred to me, though, it seemed like a lot of fun. And so the Vinyl Scratch piece was designed to match and mirror Octavia, so I tried to mimic her posture and pose when designing Vinyl Scratch. (For instance, mirroring their arm positions so that when facing one another their arms are raised and lowered on the same side.) Vinyl was carefully sized to be the same height as Octavia, and to stand with a similar stance. The whole piece is seen at it's best from Octavia's left, so that Scratch's hair flares to the other side, and those are the arms that are lowered, rather than covering the faces. Cutting Vinyl Scratch's stand to fit onto Octavia's was also a lot of fun.
Not my favorite ponies, individually, but possibly my favorite piece when put together. Different background for the picture woulda been better though.

I have many times pondered going over to wooden hair (especially when I made Octavia). Never really figured out why I haven't; it wouldn't really be that difficult and it would look good. And yet here we are.

How both pieces work together is a lot of fun. Individually they are beautiful carvings, their respective personalities simply radiate off of them, yet combined they take this to another level... They give off this great vibe of interacting and playing together. Musical duel or duet?

Looking back I think it still comes in behind Gala Fluttershy and the Apple Family as far as complicated goes, but thanks, I'm glad you like it, and working on bipedal ponies was quite the challenge!

I was gonna comment on that Vinyl individually, but I couldn't find words... This makes it so much harder...
Every single one of the choices you've made while crafting these two has been perfect. Your creativity, talent, and hard work shine here. While I love both of them individually, together the composition is just gorgeous! MLP fandom aside this is one of the coolest woodworks I've ever seen. Factoring in the fandom, you represent them both so bloody well! The colors, poses, proportions... Everything is amazing! I gotta try to not be bias by saying this is my favorite piece you've done... but it really is up there! Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this. I assure you they will be loved and appreciated when they arrive at home. (I think I'll actually say more on Vinyl on her individual submission
