Description Journal CSS Editor is, surprisingly, an editor for Journal CSS. It lets you edit the CSS for your deviantART journal in the comfort of your own browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera confirmed to work), with dynamic preview and the ability to import CSS/content from deviantART. Both "classic" v5/6 CSS and new, gruze-style Journal CSS are supported.

The download link on your left will give you a slightly crippled (and probably out-of-date) but offline-usable version of the editor.

The full editor is available at JCE.FIVEBYFIVE.BE .

Full source code, including back-end stuff.

This is seriously awesome, and it works for almost all the CSS journals I've seen. Except mine >.> I mean I wrote it horribly, so I don't expect it to work; As soon as I find time, I'll make sure to fix it up. The only downside I see is that people can easily take your css, of course that can possible through many ways, but still.

Eitherway, works awesome, easy to use, and I'm sure everyone will enjoy it

Glad you found it useful.

What exactly is it that doesn't work, and in what browser? I've been hearing about problems, but I haven't been able to replicate them. More information would be helpful.

I'm in Firefox, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080201 Firefox/2.0.0.12

Well, I was just about to write a long story about how you should have a default journal css, and how you should import the dA css styles to the preview, etc, etc. And I just saw that you did do that. I guess you updated it. My journal works fine now. It all works fine. Perfect +Fav indeed.

I still see the little problem where people can easily take your CSS w/o permission (even if they can do it through other means...). Maybe you should have some sort of a permissions check. Have people add their names to a list of 'cannot access CSS/HTML' or something. Eitherway, awesome awesome awesome!

Thank you.

Being able to play around with someone else's code in a sandbox-like environment is invaluable when you're learning a language. I'm not going to sacrifice that functionality just to stop a very small minority of users doing something they can just as easily do without that functionality. Nothing is going to stop anyone from taking Journal CSS if they want to; CSS --- like HTML, JavaScript, or anything else that's distributed in source-code form --- is just easy to take.

Besides, property is theft.
