My artwork for Shikainu, a Fakemon I thought up recently. Here's some information on it:Guardian PokΓ©mon
(Name comes from "Shisa" + "Komainu", a Japanese guardian of Shinto shrines)
GHOST / ROCK
This legendary PokΓ©mon is said to ward off evil spirits and protect good ones. It has a dignified nature and never backs down.
Ability: Brutal Rage
Raises Attack 1.5x when HP is below 1/3.

HP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Speed
130 / 140 / 110 / 100 / 90 / 100
(Total: 670; ties with Kyogre, Groudon)

I assume you're clicking it and viewing it full-size, so that's probably not the issue with the line quality you're seeing.
The problem you're probably seeing is the lines themselves - they've got little pixels sticking out and in where the Threshold tool takes over the outline. (I scan in my outlines and just use the Threshold tool to make them pure black. I don't go back over them unless I need to fix a spot.)
So they are anti-aliased, it's just the way they're drawn. xD

oh.. well, just saying, because if your lines were softer, they would make the overall look better. If you choose to do that, all you'd need to do is change it into a path and re-fill it. The problem with that is that the path can make it look all goopy, which is really annoying.
But yeah, I know about the scanning thing - I've done it before. I did sugimori for quite some time but I haven't done it for a looong time. May I ask, do you ink on a full size paper?

Pretty soon I'm going to have to resort to the almost-squiggly kind of line Sugimori uses in his artwork, so I'll have to go back over the lines. Right now I use this because it's easy and somewhat close to how he does his lines. But what would "changing it into a path" do? I've never heard of anything like that before. :0
I just use the standard 8.5" x 11" paper for my artwork. Sometimes the sketch goes over multiple pieces of paper, though, so it can be larger than just one sheet. :3

Changing it to a path is pretty much telling the computer to make a selection of the lines for you. SInce the computer would be re-doing it for you, changing the path into a selection would make your lines softer after filling the selection.

If you're using photoshop you'll have to know quite a bit about it to use this anti-aliasing method with the help of the tutorial.

I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9 for my Sugimori art, so hopefully it won't be too hard to do it using that. xP

I have a few groups of Starters by now, but looking at them now, they aren't exactly what one would expect from PokΓ©mon (some look too evil, some of the Basic stages aren't cute, etc.).

I actually have hundreds of Fakemon I've made over the years, but most of them will never go digital. Lately I've had to shift gears from Fakemon to Sugimori art of the official PokΓ©mon, so I haven't had time to work on more.

Unfortunately, I don't really have time for anything else other than what I'm doing now, which is making Sugimori-style art and the occasional Fakemon or card art. I can't take requests, nor do commissions.
