that is marvalous work, and there is so much detail, especially on the scales. GREAT JOB!! ^_^

At first I wasn't even going to comment, but then thought why not. Next I was going to say some quip about the genocide you must have committed, killing off a whole race of ink pens. But then I realized it was scratch board, and wow what a hand you have!
Any special instruments or interesting detail scratch heads you use?
(I've never used scratch-board other than a quick day of introduction in one of my art classes)

A genocide like that would deserve such a quip. XD
Oh let's see, it was a while ago when I did this, but if I remember correctly, the tool had a metal spade shaped tip, and it was very sharp and pointy. It was something I borrowed from school, so I couldn't tell you much more other than I remember that the handle was red and made of plastic.
Thanks for commenting though. c:

Hehe, welcome!
I've seen a few different tools, but they all mostly looked like clay-modeling tools being used for scratch board. For that day our class just used a simple needle point tool, but there were others with a spade tip, scalpel-like tip, flat chisel tip (I'm guessing for scraping off large areas).
I really like the style that scratch board gives, but I'm still more of a charcoal/graphite person, so that's a world I think I'd only ever tip-toe lightly through.

Oooh very nice! So what do you think of scratchboard? My mom teaches and makes art, and that's one of her favorite media, but I've never been able to get into it really. I'm more of a digital person.

Thanks.
I liked using it. It's not my most favorite medium (which changes frequently), but I still like it. It's on the expensive side though...

Yeah it is a bit expensive. Heh, that's one reason I'm a computer artist! Only a one-time startup cost, then all your colors and canvases are free!

Beautiful! You have leet scratchboard skills. (But.. how could anyone mistake this for a photo? Dragons don't exist!)

Thank you.
Some people thought it was a photo of a sculpture or something along those lines.

that's an awesome piece though i think it's a little unnecessary to tell us it's not a photo considering dragons don't exist!

Love It! althought the category says Print/etching yet your title says scratchboard. I'm not complaining, I thinks its an awesome piece still. Just wondered why you put it under printmaking
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Xovq In reply to rawjawbone [2008-04-12 01:13:58 +0000 UTC]
Well, I had no idea what to put it under, and etching seems the closest to how it's made. It's not supposed to be under printmaking, but it's not really a drawing either...
Thanks though.
