im sorry this gun just looks ugly to me the bolt curving in bound to brake and the case ejector slot is not at the right angle

The ergonomics on this thing is fucked. Also the magazine is awkwardly placed, the muzzle is too flose to the fore-grip, stock looks at least extendable. However there is no charging handle and the ejection port is wierdly placed and is just ejecting into any right handed users face. Barrel is exposed and covered in complicated parts, hard too clean. The location of the rail is a nice touch, around eye level for most people and decently long. You're a good artist but not a great gun designer. Still an excellent piece of art.

first of all thanks for saying I am a good artist. About the ergonomics and all the rest, I am not really sure if you are right or wrong about what your saying but to me that does not really matter. I doubt anybody will ever try to make one of my designs but if they do I would recommend that they rethink each part as I do not put much thought into the design. For me it is more important to create something aesthetically pleasing and thought provoking. I see it like sci-fi films were usually some parts don't really check out scientifically.

I don't buy the fluff, for this weapon really looks very suited to being an alien weapon, and why would aliens build guns for Terran cartridges?

its heavily based on extraterrestrial technology but modified for earth gravity and magnetic field. It is modified to fire terran rounds because they are most suitable for earth's atmospheric conditions. Also aliens prefer to travel with minimum cargo and then to source there ammo locally.

Depending on what I do. I could make it quite low poly and all that detail just int he color, normal/bump, and specular maps.

oh sorry..its not 3d. its actually just a photoshop painting. I work as a 3d modeler and texture artist in maya so its a bit strange that i have not modeled any guns yet. some body said he would model this so when he does i will send you a link and you can ask him for it. if i ever make this in 3d i will send you it for sure.
