Description
Well, i've been working on my pic of earth for a while now and I have finnaly ended up with this.Close to 1-mil polygons
200MB of textures
Render time at 1024x768: 30mins 42 secs
Render time at 1600x1200: 46mins 03secs
The background contains real star constelations and the Milky way, looks cooler that way, better than the Video Post stars
Enjoy!

Very impressive model and the texturing is very well done (I love the cloud formations in particular.
Two things I'm unsure about though.
The Light from the sun doesn't seem to be having an effect on the brightness of the texturing the further away from the 'midday' point. I feel that a slight gradient change from light to dark would make the image much more atmosperic (I don't dare say accurate as my knowledge of such things can be surpassed by a rather intelligent ant)
The second thing is another technical point that I may be entirely wrong on but though I'd mention (just to be corrected if nothing else). I was under the belief that if a very bright object was infront (or below) you it would effectively mask out any smaller lights further away (that being the reason that if you were standing on the bright side of the moon you would see complete darkness in the nightsky (again this is just a faint memory, correct me if i'm wrong)). Saying this, shouldn't the sun (and the reflective glow of the Earth) be masking the constelations (ie. their should be no visable stars).
Anyway these are rather small points on a beautiful image.
Good work and as always I'm happy to be corrected when I'm wrong.

@River ghost, Yea I soppose you are right in a way, the stars shouldn't be that visible with the glare of the sun and all, The lens flare is actually the position of the lights in the scene (normal and specular) so the lighting on the earth are correct (though the distances between the earth and the sun are in-accurate), and thanks for your help, ill keep an eye open for it next time.
@evry1 else, Thanks for the comments
