It wasn't how good a dancer Belle was that surprised everyone, but where her focus was in dance.
If you're looking for an idea for this series, perhaps Mulan? That scene in "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" where she successfully climbed the pole could be a good one to exploit. An impressive bend to show up Li Shang after he told her she wasn't cut out to be a soldier.
