Description P L E A S E R E A D !

I recently got a comment about this picture, a girl pointed out that even though my intentions behind this image may be pure (anorexia is BAD), it is still being used as a thinspirational picture by many sick, mostly girls, out there. I'm glad I got that comment, because it made me think harder about it and I realized that maybe I should write something more about what I meant and what my opinions are.

First, just to clear some things out: I do not suffer from anorexia, bulimia or any other eating disorder. I am not as skinny as this picture shows, Photoshop can do a lot. I do not think that there are any glamorous or cool things about eating disorders, and I am perfectly aware that they are diseases that ruins so many young lives.

I know that this image is contradictive; it's a picture of a skinny girl that says that eating disorders are bad, of course many people will see it as just a picture of a skinny girl and ignore the message it's trying to present. Some of you may think it's wrong of me to post this picture, because it contributes to all of those sick ideals out there. Some of you may think that I should delete it and be ashamed of myself for providing inspiration for sick people to do sick things.
However, I am of the opinion that one should not ban and censor pictures, opinions and such that may or may not be used as propaganda and/or inspiration for unhealthy and
"bad" things when it wasn't even the purpose to start with.

I'm done with my rant now. Thanks for reading!

I think that someone who is "inspired" by this picture towards an eating disorder already has enough problems that they would have been "inspired" by something else soon anyway. Once a person's thinking gets warped into an eating disorder, one picture isn't going to change their mind one way or another.
On the other hand, someone who isn't already in an eating disorder mindset could really "get" your message and perhaps benefit from it.

I know that this is almost a year after you posted this, but I still felt like tossing in my thoughts. We'll just say I am a little slow.

Never too late to comment on dA.

When you say that "someone who isn't already in an eating disorder mindset could really "get" your message and perhaps benefit from it.", do you mean that they might be on the very edge of an eating disorder and that the picture might work "thinspirational" for them, giving them the last push towards an eating disorder, or do you mean that they really get what I wanted to say with the pic, and maybe also reads my comments on it, and are... Inspired NOT to start starving?

I'm sorry, this is all so messy, maybe what you said was perfectly clear but I am soooo tired and slow right now D:

No problem. I meant that someone who isn't already caught up in an eating disorder mindset could see this and understand it as a deterrent.
Someone who already has the warped thinking of an eating disorder isn't going to understand this as a deterrent, but they won't see anything as a deterrent. That is one of the biggest problems with treating an eating disorder. It is so hard to even get them to see that they have a problem, much less work on fixing it.

So, I don't think that this picture, or anything similar, is going to make a difference to someone who is already has "eating disorder thinking".

This picture might help someone who isn't who isn't caught in an eating disorder, but may be headed that way.

So, a long way of saying that I agree with you keeping it up.

This is amazing.
Really artistic.
But I see a slight contradiction [No affence]
But about you saying thinsperation is bulshit.
What do you think this is to many anorexics and bulimics out there?
To you its just an artistic picture.
But it is thinspiration.
Obvously not intentionaly.
But they main point is People who are "Sick" can find thin spiration out of anything. but this is rather easy to get thinspo from. [ I don't mean it in a mean way but I gues as a bulimic in recovery .. kinda lol it dus seem a little thinpso like. but i think its an amazing pic and wow photo shops amazin it wud be so cool to see the before an after lol x

Thanks for the comment!
I totally see what you mean with my picture being a thinspo-pic even though it's not my intention. I am aware that this picture is being used by anorexic and bulimic people as inspiration, and I think it's sad because they have obviously not understood what I meant with it. I could remove the picture because I don't want to contribute to all those sick ideals out there, but as you said, sick people can find inspiration from anything, and I don't believe that one should censor images, opinions or whatever that may or may not be used as propaganda and/or inspiration for unhealthy and "bad" things when it wasn't their intention in the beginning.
Thanks for the compliments <3

I think this is amazing.... the lighting is incredible.
Anorexia is a horrible disease you are right, and I think you can see your thoughts on that expressed in this.

Great job.
