believe it or not, I'm pretty sure the original designer intended that.
I just did the side view(read, installing the flight pods, scratch that, try chop job building them since at the time that model pod didnt exist) as well as a top view style internals view.

based on it, yes.
that gunstar's based on a heavily modified defender class gunstar, re-fitted with mercury class battlestar grade battle plate.
that side view was a joy to do, and is based on a modified
Defender MK III frame.
I wish there were more ships that were this easy to work on, lol.
the hull is modular almost to the point of taking away all the fun..........
