Beautiful! The drawing is perfect and again so vibrant. It is also a really lovely photo but you totally bring it to life! Your drawings of children are pretty special!

I cant see what you can see in my art, but i can surely see what have you done with YOUR art lately.
Look carefully at those and tell me, do they have anything at all in common with these?
You have dramatically expanded your pallet (which is admirable if you ask me) and finally you see the skin saturation for what it is. Filled equally with cool and warm tones. Step by step you are giving up on the flat flesh pinks, and for that alone i am sending you this.

Wow thank you very much, now I wasn't expecting such great feedback when I'm admiring one of your beautiful drawings
I really appreciate your comments above, I hope my next post doesn't seem like a step back on the colour front. (Lets say it is a little more subtle).
But back to your fabulous drawing, it really is quite stunning! :heart

This is so beautiful and so interesting to me. This picture is all about flowing lines and softly hinting shadow and light. I might take the title to mean that you do this beautiful work "Because YOU can". How you have combined abstraction with realism so flawlessly has to approach the perfection you desire a little bit I should think. I find this to be a most balance piece in terms of tones and detailing, and with the amount of things going on in it, that is a really remarkable accomplishment. The reference is beautiful, but you have completely taken the image to a whole new level and make it your own.

' This picture is all about flowing lines and softly hinting shadow and light' are you a poet or a painter?
Perfection is still very far away sweetie
I just want to finish ironing soon enough and start with my big stuff later on, arghh no sleep again for me tonight

Am I a poet or a painter, that's very funny. I have said many times, I write exactly what comes into my little tiny brain with little or no filter there.
Well I think this shows some form of perfection and I suspect I am not alone in that thinking, but I know you, and I know you have the bar set very high for yourself. There is nothing wrong with that because you will always be pushing yourself higher and farther, and that is way better than accepting anything less than you deserve.
No sleep is not the greatest plan, but I understand all of the reasons for it, and they make sense to me for sure.

Well on a plus note at least you get a day away from ironing.
You just won't me play dumb will you? You are right it took some brain power to paint that.
Tea would be very nice, just a little bit of milk in mine please.
Hopefully you get some sleep my dear, if not hopefully you get to make some art.

Got that right!
Nop i wont.
how can you add milk to tea? i like it straight (said the coffee-with milk addict )
well atm i am holding my cup of tea and i am staring at my brushes. And the canvases. And the Pan Pastels. Thinking of how to combine all 3 of them lol
pffft do you ever do that? My head is like exploding with so many ideas, all the things i wanna do and try, i cant focus to just one single task, I want it ALL!

Well as you know I drink my coffee without milk or sugar, but for some reason I like tea with a bit of milk (and even honey on occasion, just to sweeten me up a bit ).
I am very jealous at the moment, I have myself all ready to head out and install equipment at the main fire hall here. You get tea and art, and I have to work.
If I had the time to do all the projects I see that excite me it would be amazing, that's all I can say. The nice thing for me here is I get to see what you come up with, and honestly to hear your head is exploding with ideas, is brilliant, because that means you are in a great state of mind.
I hope you do figure out one thing for today, and you have a great time working on it.

nop i didnt figure one thing for today and i can only be thankful for NOT being like this when i am about to cook
yes i know how you have your coffee how can i forget? You and Tolis have your coffee exactly the same way.
well you see? No need to be jealous after all pffft!
But i did stretch my new canvas 70x100

Actually I think Theo should be more grateful then you are that you are not like that when you go to cook.
Then Tolis has great taste in how he drinks his coffee.
Well the firemen and women here will all have very clean turnout gear thanks to me. I wish you had made some art though at least I could have seen it. The new canvas sounds very promising indeed, any hints as to the subject matter that will adorn it?

This was very small my friend, only A4 so i traced. But i want to leave this behind me, i want to take my stuff into a new level regarding size, i want to go big and i gradually will start to do so. To transfer the sketch is the easy part (at least to me it is) ,to create a whole new color pallet is harder and more of a challenge (at least to me)
This is why i push into this direction.
I want to try Pan pastels onto 1m canvas next, with under paint (acrylics most probably) but i wish to keep the surgical precision of details too. We shall see, i guess, how this is gonna turn. Wish me luck!!

Traced? Really? I have never traced anything and I feel it kind of impure in regards to drawing to be honest. Almost the entire drawing is the line work, many can color, aka "paint by numbers" by few can hand draw an accurate portrait. So that explains why these are so accurate I guess.... And of course to transfer the sketch is easy if you trace it, not so easy if you just look and draw without any tracing or copying. Still fine work and amazing detail, and good luck with getting bigger, I usually draw on 14" by 17" for everything, a ton of people use A4 size though. And sadly no one knows if something is traced or not, that is why drawing itself is not all that respected I feel.

to trace an A4 size is easy. Impossible to do the same in bigger sizes. Not all my drawings are A4 There i have to go free hand, usually i am correct in everything. Right now here is 3.10 am and since after midnight are my most productive hours i am sketching free hand . When i trace i do it only because i am lazy i think...
Well theres no trace in the big canvases but theres always the projector solution.
drawing is not underestimated, it only has to be accurate so the fun can begin with the colors. I just hate to waste my time with colors on a false sketching.
Take a look here sta.sh/026vj85eyswx sta.sh/01ah2qxq7c8x this is 50x70cm and it is free hand. This is where i work. I like it so far and i dont feel i am wasting my time.

I am not saying it is a waste of time, I have done hundreds of drawings which are sure inferior to the reference but I still try to pull it off and there is something to be said about not tracing and doing things by hand. But everyone is different, my guess is a lot of people trace because it makes the finished product look better, simple as that. However usually lines that are exactly correct are exact for a reason. In the age now of computers, it is far to easy to get exact images and go from there, most digital portraits are linear traced then colored which is why personally I like keeping traditional artwork just that, the less technology used the better I feel.
