When Koffing was first discovered, most of them have the skull marking on top of their face instead of below. Reason for the changes remain unknown, but some trainers do claim that this variation still exists.

Sprite Note
This Koffing is made based on the Gen I Red(J) and Blue(J) sprite of Koffing, where the skull was accidentally place on top of its head instead of at the bottom.
