I don't necessarily 'paint blob'...but my bases are waay closer to the one on bottom then top...
Can you give me a link to a tutorial to make a more detailed base please?

Using bases like the example on the top really require using a line or curve tool. For newbies, I recommend either the Paint.net line/curve tool or the Paint Tool SAI line/curve tool.

I don't do the highlight since I can't really get it to go right with the light source that well with the hair, but I do at least shade. :/

From what I saw, you don't really paint blob so much.
However, I would suggest some more detailed shading.

hmmm, have I done that? I honestly, don't know, sorry. I just use the burn tool sometimes. However, I agree. I have no bases but it gets kind if annoying to see such '5 minuet' jobs on such good bases.
