most of my work is shot with a compact camera as well... i dont think you need fancy shmancy junk to make art.

I think so. But unfortunately most of the "lady bugs" around here are just those smelly japanese beetles, or whatever they are. All I know, is that they get in my house and if you try to move them, they make your hands smell horrid. 
I looooove real lady bugs though. Hopefully this is one of them.. I can never tell the difference!

Well done. One of the few Favs I've ever given a ladybug shot. A subject much overdone. YOu really have a nice and original composition in this one, and the contrasts between the bug and the surface is terrific.
