I can't stop ogling at this. It turned out so cute and nice! ;w;

So, this is kind of a culmination of a few thoughts. First off, Grottomon is one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time, and definitely my favorite digimon. He's from the fourth season, Frontier, and the truth is, I love all the other corrupted warriors, in the show. That includes fan-favorite Ranamon.

Here's the thought process behind this picture. I was originally gonna just draw Ranamon as a mermaid for MerMay. That's long past. I've also always pondered the existence of Grottomon's tail. Idk if most people who watched the show noticed, but he does have a short, bitty tail. But, it's always puzzled me because Grottomon is based on a Scandinavian troll, and those guys have much more prominent tails. So this plus mermaid Ranamon got me thinking about a fan-theory that they and the other "evil" warriors had different forms before they were corrupted (like Dusk/Lowemon). However, they stick to their original forms in the show after they've been purified, so that theory doesn't quite stick. So, it got me thinking, what if Cherubimon changed or took something else to manipulate their data? TAILS!!!

So, I gave them their tails back! >B3

Well, the tail thing fits for Grottomon, but not quite Ranaman. I mean it's a nice looking tail *humble brag hurhurr*, but I know Ranamon is mostly based on a water nymph or fairy. But her ancestor digimon was a mermaid, so why not give her a tail when she has dominion over the entire ocean? The tail could come in handy.

I'm not sure how things would go about for Arbormon and Mercuremon, since their both pretty much robots. Mercuremon is my second favorite of the corrupted warriors, so I've found some cool art of him in other styles. [link] [link] That first fanart is pretty sick, but I like the bigger take the second one has.

Anyways, it was a while since I drew like this, and I'm super proud of how this turned out. I've drawn Grottomon before, but not Ranamon, and that was very fun. I'm glad I've improved so much that I can finally put my thoughts on paper with a satisfying outcome. It's great.
