*Walks to the room door, sounds impatient* "Marco I told you I don't want to play cards..." *opens the door and sees Chris is outside* "Oh...it's you."
"Yeah, I...errr...was wondering..."
"What are you doing so late in the base?" *cuts him off*
"Paperwork kept me late," *pauses* "Can I come in?"
*keeps still for a moment then moves* "Whatever, I'm about to go to bed soon."
"It won't take long," *enters the room, awkward silence ensured, tries to break the ice* "err...I asked the office and they said you went to the dorm."
"We dispatch tomorrow morning. It's easier to stay in the base for the night..." *inhales* "Also it might be better to have some space for us to think."
"Speaking of which..." *takes a deep breath* "I believe I owe you an apology." *pauses* "I'm sorry. You were right, I should have talked about it with you first. But I do think it's time for you to take over. You can't be my second the rest of your life."
"That I understand." *looks at Chris* "I'm also sorry... that I overreacted." *shakes his head* "I just cannot imagine being in the field without you, it reminds me those six months..."
"Hey," *rests a hand on Piers' knee* "you're already a great captain, trust me."
"I have a great mentor," *smiles slightly* "who sometimes frustrates the hell out of me." *looks at Chris pointedly* "Especially with your tendency of pulling ranks whenever we argue."
"Ohh," *chuckles* "well, look it this way, when I retire, you can pull all kinds of ranks on me, Captain Nivans."
"Is that an innuendo?" *glares at Chris* "maybe we can have that conversation some other time."
"Yeah, it's getting late, I should probably go."
"It's already past curfew, you can stay if want to, that is if you don't mind bunking with me down here," *gestures the empty upper bunk* "this one has no bedding."
"Gladly," *grins at Piers and crawls in the lower bunk*
"Oh watch out for your..." *says as Chris bumped his head on the upper bed board* "head."
***later***
"I almost forgot how uncomfortable these beds are." *wiggles to stretch his legs*
"Stop moving around, you'll kick me off the bed."
"Not if I do this," *tugs Piers closer to him* "see?"
*chuckles*
"Seriously though, I'm glad we made up before you leave," *places small kisses on Piers nape*
"Hmm," *murmurs drowsily* "me too."

As I promised, they made up! Yay! And I bet none of you guys want to see them talking awkwardly again in the dorm so I decide to capture the moment after the conversation, they deserved some sweet cuddle, specially on that tiny bed, right? xD
