So I'm NOT the only one who noticed! Personally, I have a theory! Suppose the covenant finds a half-dead AI (Wheatley after God-knows-how-long) when spying on the humans and the Engineers decide to fix it. But then Cortana gets a hold of it and fixes his programming so that he isn't stupid, but as a result she has to completely reset him? Do I sense a fanfic?

There's one slight problem with that. Spark became Spark when some spaceship picked up the dying Chakas and made him into a robot to save him. The Covenant wasn't really involved. Unless I'm mistaken

Just checked again. Apparently, Chakas was an ancient human who was somehow involved with the Battle of Installation 07, and the Forerunners uploaded his personality and memories into a robot. ^^
