Description

After having this fursona design sitting around for months, I finally sat down and finished it. Vesper is the new version of what was - for awhile - a gryphon variant of my wolfdog fursona, Vex. Before that, he was an alternate fursona called Hawk . Neither of those designs ended up sticking, and calling two characters by the same name was getting a bit confusing. There are a lot of elements about the old design that I still really like, but it was just so complicated that I never wanted to draw it. The more classic gryphon body without all the extras is just a much better fit, and the white lion inspired color scheme makes him a nice contrast to Vex the wolfdog. The name Vesper is my answer to having two fursonas using the name 'Vex'. One has it as their main name, and one has it as a nickname.

Character Profile

Name: Vesper. Often goes by the nickname "Vex".
Species: Gryphon. Features are mostly meant to be a mix of a white lion and leucistic red-tailed hawk.
Sex: Male

Anatomy

Size: Similar in size to a lion, though I haven't worked out exact measurements yet.
Build: Also similar to a lion, but more streamlined, and not quite as bulky or muscular.

Front Half (mostly feathers)
Mouth: Top half of the mouth is a beak and the lower half is a feline jaw. He has a full set of feline teeth, but his beak is usually concealing the top half.
Ears: Ears are large and thickly-furred like a wolf, but with very pronounced tufts on the tips.
Neck and chest: Feathers around his neck and chest are thicker than the rest of his body, reminiscent of a lion's mane.
Front Legs: Shaggy leg feathers lead down to featherless lower legs and feet. Front feet have hawk-like talons, dexterous fingers, and opposable thumbs. If drawn in a more realistic/detailed style, he would have scales on his legs like a bird.
Wings: Wings are similar in shape to a red-tailed hawk. Color and pattern on the top of the wings is different than on the underside.

Back Half (mostly fur)
Back Legs: Back legs are similar to a lion's, and back paws have pads and retractable claws.
Tail: Tail is also lion-like, with a dark, furry tuft at the end. Fur is thicker and shaggier on the underside where his tail meets his body.

Personality
Positive Traits: Intelligent, kind, passionate, empathetic, open-minded, loyal, adaptable, observant, determined, honest, funny, and level-headed.
Negative Traits: Self-conscious, insecure, worrisome, hypersensitive to criticism, can be easily frustrated, prone to catastrophic thinking, pessimistic, private, socially anxious, and cares too much what other people think.
