Just some art for my graphic novel, Midnight Hearts. You won't actually see this scene in the comic, because it skips most of Zepher's infancy. Anyway, this is Nero (the dark grey wolf) and his son, Zepher (the silver wolf pup). Zepher's probably about two or three weeks old here, able to open his eyes, and clearly able to lift his head to give the most pitiful of howls, but one day he'll grow and learn to give a howl that will strike fear into the hearts of his enemies. For now, though, he shares a sweet moment with his father. Zepher was born premature and almost didn't make it, so this is the first time his father has been able to take him outside. Just as they are about to return to the castle, their fur glowing with the blue evening light and fog creeping along the faraway fields, Nero lets out a howl and is surprised to find his tiny pup joining in. I love baby Zeph, he's so CUTE. By the way, Zepher is not resting on the ground, he's propped on his father's other leg. Zeph will never remember that evening, he was far too young, but it was one his father will never forget.
