Description

Putting the bag on, Gizli inhaled sharply. He steeled himself, desperate hands itching to pull the paper trash off of his head. Pinpricks traced up his neck, discomfort following its harsh path. Gizli twisted his head, moving his shoulders to see if it would make this damned feeling go away, or at the least be lessened. Gizli clenched his fists, finally deciding to open his eyes.

This wasn’t going to be enjoyable.

Gizli sent a glance toward Maggie through his paper prison, the fur on her back prickling with discomfort.

“Are you ok?” She whispered, concern noticeable through the bag.

“I’m fine, how are you holdin’ up, Bucky?” Gizli whispered back toward her. Maggie gave a nervous laugh and a half-hearted shrug in reply.

He held his hand out, watching as she scurried up his arm toward his shoulder, and tried not to flinch at her claws. Instead, he turned his attention toward the others struggling to tape a mask on Naval. He smiled softly, looking upon the chaotic dingle-bats he called friends. They oddly reminded him of his cousins, except these ones would be kept safe.

That turn of thoughts wasn’t appreciated.

Gizli looked around before he found the perfect focus of his bitterness. He glared toward Teleporter, watching the arrogant piece of metal while she joked around. Maybe the other’s liked her, but he wasn’t about to trust her. The idiocy of the metal fool still struck him as odd.

Funny thing because he didn’t understand what was so funny.

    He honestly never did.

Gizli wasn’t getting any better from when he’d become previously broken before. His physical scars were surely healed, but the nightmares and paranoia still remained. That clenching of the stomach whilst he looked around in a desperate attempt to regain his now stolen sense of safety. The random bursts of fear and the need to look behind himself 5 times.

And the breaking of his pendant surely didn’t help.

It wasn’t like anyone here had asked him about his scars, even Lilac had let it go. Maggie had tried, but after he started bringing up torture techniques, she quickly quieted. He was thankful for it, at the least. All the comfort he had grown around these people had been stolen. Surely, they were sweet, but that didn’t make up for the dread that crept up his spine when he was finally alone.

    He felt exposed.

Once being able to hide the very things that he’d become masterful at disguising, having it ripped away was disorienting. Gizli had debated about wearing a long-sleeve jacket or some pants but didn’t want to bother Core when he didn’t know where any clothes he once had were.

    So there he had been.

Staying awake past 4 am with the pure anxiety of dying should he shut his eyes. Sitting there, adrenaline not yet leaving him to the slumber it so desperately fought with. Leaving him alone with his thoughts, a dangerous thing. He’d learned to not think, focusing on other things. How many bricks were in the walls? 2160. 810 bulbs in his lights. 23 leaves on his flower, 9 petals.

"Welcome everyone to our humble resort~" Gizli jolted back to reality as the silky voice intruded his mind. Looking up, he noticed that he had been unconsciously walking with the group. A candle-looking boy greeted them, Gizli himself having no words or thoughts to function properly besides the barebones description his mind had granted him. "Let us provide you with whatever means of relaxation and entertainment you may be looking for to help ease your worries. Our only rule is that you please be courteous to others and cover up your faces during your stay."

Gizli tried to focus on the words of the candle boy in front of him, watching him converse with Charcream and a couple of others. Curse those masks, dumb protocols, and insecurities. He reached up to take his bag off, he’d probably-

"If it matters that much to your culture, then we all solemnly promise to keep our bags on while we're here."

Gizli froze, glaring over toward Teleporter. Good, now he had a proper reason to hate her. He clenched his jaw, spite rising in his throat. He slowly reached his hand up before Maggie gave him a sharp glare.

“Gizli. It’s their Culture! How would you feel if someone did that to you?” Maggie’s hardly intimidating stare reminded him oddly of a small rodent trying to scold a snake.

“... There’s a flaw in that statement seeing as-”

“YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.” Maggie huffed. Gizli couldn’t help but smile, listening to Maggie’s exaggerated indignancy. He shook his head, turning to listen and observe his surroundings.

Towering spirals of gold, traced as though by a greater being, endlessly advancing upward toward the heavens in designs that went high so that his eyes could not dare to discern. Several Pillars shot upward, all upholding a ceiling that failed to keep out any of the sunlight which plagued them now. A giant chandelier hung in the center, resembling more of a dream catcher when Gizli stood beneath the creation. Slowly sending cascading colorful light upon the sun-drenched visitors with awe-struck (Or what he assumed to be awe-struck, as everyone’s faces were covered) wonder.

He looked toward where the others had begun to walk off. Gizli stepped forward, beginning to follow them. He saw movement right beside him, whipping back when someone passed barely a foot in front of him. Muttered apologies not fully meant exchanged between him and the passerby quickly ceased before he continued on his path.

He really was out of it.

Gizli sighed, he wanted this to be over as soon as possible. The pressure on his eyes from a headache began to slowly make him lose focus. Gizli shook his head, trying to rid himself His eyes fell on the gift shop, raising an eyebrow.

“Gizli you don’t look so good-” Maggie whispered toward him, Gizli simply humming in response. His fingers traced the foreign keepsakes, finally settling on a picture stand with L O R E inscribed upon its stone base (Or at least what he assumed to be stone, it was swirling colors of the rainbow all across it.) Gizli chuckled softly, it was about a yard or a meter (He still had issues with human measurements), with several spots for pictures. It had a heavy base that was definitely going to keep it grounded.

Gizli picked it up, deciding it suitable and wanting to get away and rest in the silence as soon as possible. He slowly exhaled, watching the tomfoolery of the teammates that he’d now started to great as challengers. Maggie hopped off his shoulder to join them, sending a strike of bitterness through his heart. Gizli ignored it, looking back to the plaque.

“How much for it?” Gizli glanced up at the host of the Giftshop, watching as the candle stand woman answered silkily.

“25 bitcoin, honey.” She smiled sweetly, glancing toward Gizli’s broken pendant. “But… We do barter.”

Gizli hesitated, fingers grazing the crescent moon upon his collarbone. Without wasting another second, he set it down on the table, knowing full well it would return to him within the next month.

“Fire Enchantment IV, Feather Falling III, and Mending II.” Gizli pointedly didn’t mention the home point spell. He hardly cared about stealing anymore, and hoped that maybe they just wouldn’t notice. He knew full well that it’d be transported back to his home, stripping him of the comfort of the small heirloom.

The candle woman smiled, something bitter flashing across her face before she waved him away.

Gizli settled in a sun chair, away from the water. He decided he’d take this day to watch the rest of the group, joining them in any activities should they so ask or invite him.
