Why should we expect them to be? We are all human, capable of doing both good and bad.I personally judge a person all these things if they do indeed show them. I don't judge them just because they are atheist. And those of you who do that, you need to chill out and shape up.

Thank you! It bugs me, one time I told someone I was atheist and he just said, "Why don't you kill people then? You don't have to be scared of hell." I really hope not everyone thinks that.

In a country like the united states, where the atheist population is subjected to much bigotry and alienation, there is a greater likeliness of said atheists to end up unpleasant. We all treat people the way we get treated.

Yes, a lot of Christians are pretty nasty to atheists and others. It's a two way thing, and not enough people are willing to break the vicious cycle.

Yes. I try to be nice (but that's easy in a country where the nonreligious are a minority), and being good to one another is the most important thing of all, I think.

Yes I saw that you like to default to a red herring when you don't like what's being told to you. Like that you're just as guilty of what this stamp is telling you not to do, and you rationalize yourself out of believing any atheists are nice because it's less convenient to your world view. And wonder why they grow annoyed.

There's a good chance you've met a nice atheist without even realising it. After all, the case tends to be that those who are loudest about their beliefs are also those who are most unpleasant about it.
I'm an atheist, and I do my best to be kind to everyone. I know that I waver in this at times- I get too invested in debates sometimes, and I have certain pet peeves that will wind me up enough to stop being civil- but I know I'm not the only one.
I think it's important to remember that religion and faith aren't the only thing that defines someone's personality.

Yes, that's true. I hate labels, and I do my best not to put them on anyone, on myself, or judge people by them. Have I personally met a nice athiest? I don't think so, but time will tell as I get older.

The people that judge like that one way or another, are the people that are those things in the first place. The christians that judge athiests and other religions as horrible are the horrible ones that people make fun of themselves..and vice versa..it just seems like a bigger statement for christians because their religion is about loving your neighbour as yourself pretty much.

Not even an atheist and I believe that. If you think a religion(or in this case lack of religion) makes a person evil then you're an idiot. You have the right to accept or deny it.
