It really upsets me how much the fandom hates Pink Diamond/Rose, but in SUF Steven was a complete jerk (I know he had mental health problems) but everyone was like “he needs therapy, poor baby uwu”Pink deserves closure

I don’t understand why people bring up ones past mistakes to go against them.
The fandom just doesn’t like pinks past self because they were showing her arc backwards, we just need people to see that is the case why were seeing pink in a different way.

Right, another thing is we aren’t familiar with seeing a characters arc in reverse. We’ve seen negative character arcs but the different is that the person is alive and were seeing the changes in the present and pinks is show through the memories of others.

Yeah....yeah...Pretty much. When did my own character coverage of this series, I really recognized that a lot of her actions were either short sited mistakes or necessary evils in her mind that simply couldn't be fixed or at least not very easily. And yeah Steven's got some issues that really requires some therapy but...gotta agree that it doesn't excuse his behavior.

"abandoned Pearl for Greg"?? you don't owe somebody a relationship just because they have feelings for you jesus christ, their emotions are their responsibility. the op responded with some good points, so i'd just like to add that the galaxy warps were broken during the war so she couldn't get spinel.

i do believe it's been confirmed that pearl's feelings were not unrequited, but i don't think they ever were ever "officially" (for lack of a better word) in a romantic relationship. i think pink/rose saw pearl's self sacrificing behavior, her lack of independence and the power imbalance between them as diamond and pearl that never completely ended and didn't take things further. by the way pearl words it in it's over isn't it, greg had won rose over and rose had chosen him, which implies that she had not already chosen anyone. besides, intimate platonic relationships are certainly a thing.

You could look at it like that. But here is how I view it:
1. Spinel was designed to be a “toy” or playmate for Pink. While the diamonds were doing normal, diamond duties, pink was playing with her friend. When the diamonds said “hey, now is your chance for a colony” I’m sure Pink wanted to prove to them that she is mature and responsible to handle one. So doing what she was basically taught, she throws Spinel to the side.
2. She didn’t “abandon” Pearl for Greg. It’s about preference. Ever since Pink started turning into Rose and traveled to Earth, she experienced lots of things - including love! She was very fond of Pearl but she wasn’t romantically fond of her. You can’t force someone to love you back. She did love Greg though.
3. The Bismuth situation is rough. Bismuth expressed to Rose that she believed shattering home world gems was the right route to go. When rose refused, Bismuth threatened to kill her (just like Steven). So of course Rose poofed her. But how to you explain that to your friends when you don’t want to leave a bad name for her? You can’t just say “hey, Bismuth tried to kill me cause I told her it’s not right to kill other gems”. She could have handled it better, but it’s because she didn’t want her friends to view Bismuth negatively.
4. She did NOT have Steven to get rid of her problems!!! I hate it when everyone says this because it’s not true! She wanted to create a new life, something her and Greg couldn’t do with fusion. Rose didn’t say “hey garnet, when do the diamonds and other home world gems come to earth for their revenge on me? I wanna have a child around that time.” They had been on earth for THOUSANDS of years before the diamonds wanted revenge.

It’s a good idea, but it wasn’t used properly. Instead of Steven realizing that “hey, not everyone is perfect. Even my mom, leader of the Crystal Gems, has her faults”, they used it as a weapon/scape goat. In the end, Steven just threw her portrait away in Lion’s mane and blamed pretty much everything on PD.

nothing was more disappointing in the show than pink's character not getting any closure, with her portrait being locked away forever in lion's mane. perfectly compartmentalized out of steven's mind...
