This is fantastic artwork and a wonderful point you hit on, the fact that the theme of revolution goes beyond the students' revolt. The Eiffel Tower hadn't been built by their time, but as a symbol of France it works perfectly here.
Every revolution, being a normal accomplishment, contains in itself its own legitimacy, which false revolutionists sometimes dishonor, but which persists even when sullied, which survives even when stained with blood.
