Popping in for the Comment War at ProjectComment because I thought this guy just looked super cool.
I love the intensity of the expression, and the detail in the eyes adds so much to that. Overall the whole color scheme is beautiful and just makes you center in on the brightness of them in comparison with the muted colors of everything else.
The way the hair is done is lovely as well at the ends where it sort of fades and ends very gently rather than looking chopped off with messy brushstrokes, but the shading of it looks somewhat flat compared to the rest of the picture, especially the horns and ears. With the horns you can see the texture of them and detail and all the different colors hidden in the lights and shadows. And the ears the fur of them is visible which is a great touch. Shading white hair is really hard though, I think, so I sort of prefer it like this rather than overdone and with too many colors added in on accident if that makes any sense. I think trying out more reflected colors from the skin and horns and background on it though very lightly or maybe with a multiply/overlay layer could make something that is a nice in-between though.
The texture of the white paint on his shoulders and arms is great too. I love that it's sort of faded in and really looks like it was actually painted onto him and not slapped on a picture or something. It looks like it's been there long enough to start fading away, which is just a really great touch. The way it follows the flow of the muscles and the texture of the skin is wonderful. I can't tell if it might be the paint calling more attention to the arms or the way it's drawn, but his arms seem to be larger than they should be in comparison to his chest. Or maybe the chest looks smaller than it should be? It sort of makes the chest look like it was more of an afterthought, in a way. There's these little textures of hair and detail on the forearm and the paint, and the necklace which has lovely little shadows under it and little knots, and then the chest overall seems added in because it's a thing that has to be there. In noway does it look rushed, I can see little details in the coloring of it, but the overall shading and form of it seem off in a way that isn't present in the rest of the picture.
Overall this is beautiful. The colors, the simplicity of the composition, and the gentle sort of magical looking wind that appears to be playing with his hair and the circle of light reflecting colors off the horns all create this great vision of a character who appears to be obviously psychically strong, but more subtly has some sort of magic. He looks really intimidating in a good way. Really relaxed and calm but probably a total badass if he needs to. ((I held off looking through the other pictures of him til I finished writing this and from a quick glance at the gallery I think you did a great job capturing the character as a whole)) c:

I'm off to war again! The Comment War of ! Hopefully I'll survive!
I looked through ImuKai's gallery. The character Torukai seems quite sociable and even playful in many works, plus he looks like he's learning all sorts of skills from the others.
However, yours here give a quite different impression. The subtle hint of smile and the crossed arms posture give out that he's more confidant and even mature. I'd think he has mastered the skills he learnt and can face whatever situations calmly. You know, like the later chapters of fantasy stories.
Shape (including anatomy) -
Natural shape. Your work here looks the most real among many in ImuKai's gallery. Compared to the other realistic portraits of Torukai, yours shows more of his body (with upper torso and part of the arms). Plus the bones and muscles are in the right places. The horns are exceptionally great, looking both fantasy-like and real.
When I look at the ears, they seem a little bit too long. For humans and anthro-beings, the ears locate approximately at the eye level, perhaps a little higher. But when looking at Torukai's ear tips, which are almost reaching the top of the head, that would mean the ears are really long. Perhaps you can adjust them for a bit? However, if you want to keep the level of the ears, I'd advise thickening them, so the ears look bigger instead of long. For reference, besides tutorials and other paintings, you can search some satyr cosplay photos- real-life people might come off as really good reference.
Colours -
Besides natural colours, I notice you've added hints of pale green and violet around the edge of the face, the hair and the horns. I enjoy these kind of art with other decorative colours - they make the whole picture more positive and even magical.
I know you want to make the decorative colours subtle - as to not be too vibrating and steal away the focus. But I suppose it's safe to apply more, especially to the hair. Viewers usually clicked into the artwork and see the first glance in a smaller resolution. Before clicking it and observe the details, the green and violet aren't very obvious, which might make the hair look vague (just white) and unable to show the strands clearly. Maybe you can try using the green or violet to draw a few strand of hair? That would show you are trying to portray Torukai as detailed as showing each strand of hair (more clearly).
Value -
You make it obvious that the light comes from the top right. The bright glow gives out a majestic atmosphere. It's really clear that even the patterns on his skin are as well affected - another evidence of how detailed your work is!
Now I see the light source positions somewhere behind him (besides locating top right), because of the outer boundaries of Torukai's figure have that soft glowing effect. You did that for the right-hand side. But I think the left side should also have that effect, just not as bright. Here's a picture I found that perhaps can illustrate my point more clearly: www.daz3d.com/media/catalog/pr… Looking at her head, the right side is brighter, hinting where the light comes from, but despite that, her left side still has that soft "bounced light".
However, if you'd prefer the lighting to be dramatic that the left side of Torukai consist of mainly shadows, you can just increase the shading contrast a little bit.
Wish my comment is of help! It's a very detailed portrait, I'm afraid I can't point out every single area that I appreciate- else this comment will turn too long you'd fall asleep reading it! All in all, I like your work!
I have some questions about your work, please.
1. The glowing circle behind his head- is it magic or does it have other meanings/purposes?
2. About the green and violet glows, do you use airbrush or an overlay layer or other means to do that?
3. About Torukai, is there any passages about this character or is there only artworks? It's alright if you don't know much. I understand he's ImuKai's character.

Question's Answers: It has no purpose other than decoration and to add focus to the picture
Both airbrushing and special layers
I found no passages what so ever, only artworks, and never asked the artist about
the character beyond what very very little they ever told me.

Hello, the name's RyugaSSJ3 from and I got something to say.
First thing to note..this guy looks exceptionally strong. Damn strong. His physique is the equivalent to that of a body-builder but if you personally know Torukai,he's might be a lot tougher than 5 muscle dudes combined. The shading and color contrasts of the guy shows his physical prowess pretty well I might add. Not to mention, nipples. Need to point that out too. I just wanna be childish to point that out. The white streaks of paint on him gives Torukai some sort of tribal paint. He might be some tribal warrior or practiced the ways of some native people,I dunno but it looks sweet and judging from the curvy streaks,I guess his hidden powers so to speak might have something to do with flowing energy like wind or water. His face also gives off the feeling of confidence, ready to take on some difficult obstacles ahead. His lavender eyes emit a crystal-like glow to it. It shines literally. Hehe, puns. His nose ring and other nose ring near his eyes are pretty cool touches and I think he might be a moose or a deer or reindeer. His ears and horns are well detailed but the horns themselves take great advantage of its shading, giving more stem-like and rough edged-line feels to its design, making it look organic. The ears suggest that he may not be human or just human but with ANIMAL POWERS!! BEAST UNLEASHED!! The ring-lace around his neck like his tribal paint also stems from his tribal roots. A great touch. Might also be his call to nature I guess. Lastly, the aura around his antlers gives off this amazing aura of mysticism,a much aligned unknown that he knows, making him go beyond earthly needs and being one with the planet and maybe beyond the universe. A great power lies within him. I'd liked to see a story behind this guy.
As for flaws,well...I can only think of one thing...how 'bout place his name below him but stylize his name in some kind of font. Other than that,I don't see any kind of flaws. This thing is quite perfect on its own. This is the second piece I've commented on that seems perfectly fine. The mystery of this guy is intriguing. IS he man or beast? A spirit or an alien? Is he beyond our limited knowledge or understanding of the universe or is he simple like us?
Who knows. I've been watching Zyuohger and the idea of human-like beast people being thrusted into our world and transforming into Power Rangers to protect us from space aliens is quite intriguing and this guy feels like a much more deeper philosophy of that kind of subject. If anyone would like to know if there are other beings other than humans in the universe, look no further since we...we might find something that can change our views even more.

The commissioner didn't want his name in the picture so that was out of the question lol. As for man or beast, he
would be both since he is a Satyr lol
But what an interesting show idea =3 I never heard of Zyuohger til now.
But I am really glad you put a lot of detail in your comment about the details in the picture from the little glow in his
eyes to even his nipples (second time this happened in one of my pics XD) and that is really good-it means even the small
things turned out very well like I was hoping they would <3
Considering he is a Satyr the tribal look was very wanted-I am glad it came out well and the picture has that nice feel to it~ =3

Satyr?
Zyuohger is the 40th Sentai by Toei Productions. Yes,they made Power Rangers and Masked Rider and from the looks of things,Zyuohger is tons more better a show compared to the previous one. It's got like Sonic X-style story where animals from another world get thrown into ours and the main character is a human zoologist who teaches these human-like animals called Beastman to live in our world but they have to be human because our world is constantly attacked by aliens and with Beastman running around and with humans, like any other comic book hero, are stupid and ignorant thinking beast-like creatures are aliens even though said aliens and beastman look nothing alike.
Past Sentai shows did this before but it wasn't the main theme of the show. Zyuohger takes the idea of monsters protecting humans from invaders despite the humans ignorancy and preservation for themselves while these friendly beast monsters also wanna go back home while one human stands strong and protects them despite humans prejudice. It's really great if you think about it but I would be expecting too much from it. Also, there's one Beastman who looks like an Eagle, hated his own homeland called Zyuland/Beastland. Hoping this guy would be the one to make some trouble in the human world. You can watch Zyuohger on kissasian. It may be a kids show but hey, everybody watches this since its the closest thing to a live action comic book tv show you'll be seeing if you like Marvel and DC.
I would soooo like to talk more about this but I have some limits which I don't wanna sound repetitive like a broken record. So much stuff to talk about. Geez. ^_^'

Hi xXSerena-CrosseXx ,
To begin with, whoever you made it for, they were lucky to have you work on this. And for me, I am glad you chose this piece to showcase via ProjectComment So I’m just writing a few words for you. Vision:
I can clearly see here that you were excited and passionate about this piece. I hope you do get desired credit wherever it’ll be used. Originality:
There are many such portraits and similar characters, yet their expressions and shapes, make them appear differently and facilitates a unique outlook. As this character belongs to someone else, it would be nicer to have their link to credit them and know more about this character's origin. Apart from that, it would be great to see a character based on your own looks, you can possibly do a self-character like this. Technique:
I glazed through your previous works, and I have to say, this is one your best works, well not to forget about Hope you’ll agree with me on that. Detailing is phenomenal in this as well! I was trying to find out mistakes, but so far, close to none. Even if there’s something like the left-ear tad distant from the left horn, or slightly tilted posture, I can reason all that with wind. Skin texture is quite real. I tried to cover the face with my hand to look at the body, it appeared like a photograph. I would like to know which software you use and perhaps how much time you had spent on this. Just curious. Impact:
I can imagine it on a cover page of a digital art magazine. The persona of this piece is astonishing. I really hope to see more of your own OCs in a similar technique. Just a suggestion, if you ever create your portfolio, give it a full page. Showcase:
The signature or I shall say the font you are using for your name is neat but the placement, makes it seem as name of the character. Just a notion, that the sign/name should come under the name of there character. End Note:
I hope my comment is good enough. Keep up your astonishing work!

Haha I am actually glad you looked through my gallery, but it is funny you pointed that one out-as
the person who commissioned me wanted this piece to be very similar to The Demonic Prince [OC: Tsung].
=3 I am glad they measure up so well~.
I did link credit to the person in the description quite clearly where you can find every picture ever drawn of them (that I know of)
and the person's full gallery with everything. They are on Furaffinity.
They also did not want the name of their character in the picture, and my signature will stay in every piece no matter what, especially
where as I am paranoid of people stealing pictures especially since once I did a picture for another and they tried to pass it off as their
own handy work...so this helps get rid of that fear somewhat.
Anyways; as for the rest, thank you so much for your words and I like how you broke down your comment like an actual critique lol
That is cool, I will be doing more of my art like I did this one-it is more fun and has better results. I do have an OC that is mainly based off
of me so =3 in the future I will be doing a character like myself lol
I use GIMP as my program to use and just over the years learned different techniques as-unlike other things such as Photoshop or 3D programs
Gimp needs a lot of personal art tricks and such to get different results instead of a click of a button. It took me 5 days time to complete it, normally
it would be longer but I was very driven and excited doing this lol.
Thank you for the tip though, maybe one day I will be good enough to do a very nice portfolio.

This looks great! The first thing that catches my eye is his expression, it comes across as very intense. I love his eyes too.
The face and ears are super detailed and sharp. However, moving outwards from the face, some of the sharpness gets lost, his horns and arms seem almost a bit blurry. But that's pretty much the only thing I can criticise.
The anatomy looks good; I really like his figure like every heterosexual female presumably.
The background adds an additional feel of the supernatural with its misty vagueness and that abstract circle of light. It kind of reminds me of a halo the way it is positioned around his head, which creates an interesting contrast with his more demonic/"heathen" supernatural looks. I think it also helps draw even more attention to his eyes that are placed on the circle.
I really like this one, keep up the great work!

Hello, here from ProjectComment
So right off the bat, when saw this I immediately thought of the satyrs from mythology (not sure if that was what was intended). This is further cemented by the horns and... goat ears?
Anyway, I'll start with mentioning how beautiful the background is. We can see the stars in the middle of what seems to be a solar eclipse. While it definitely is, as I already mentioned, beautiful it also doesn't distract from the true focus, and that is Torukai (which, by the way, sounds like a Japanese name).
Moving down from his antelope-like horns, we get to his hair which seems almost like like the you have it. It feels as if I could just reach out and touching; it would most certainly feel soft feathers. Then we have white tattoos along his body (which, even if there is zero resemblance, reminds me of Last Airbender). Now his eyes. They're intense. everything screams demonic, especially with the colour of his eyes. The corners of his mouth is turned upwards in what seems to be a haughty smile (basing it off his appearance). I also noticed the nose ring and the four piercings on his face (either that, or he's growing horns there too... just kidding. He's not Doomsday... lol).
I like the design of the amulet (I'm just calling it that for now) around his neck. It looks ominous. Upon closer analyses of his arms, I see you put inn small hairs (most visible on his right forearm). I am truly amazed by the amount of detail you pushed into this piece that surpass the limits of rational of splendour (in my eyes, that is).
Taking a step back, the whole atmosphere about Torukai makes me feel (I also felt this when I first looked at this piece) like he's looking down on/at me. Or, reworded, he's staring me down. In short, this very handsome god (almost demonic) -like figure is staring me down! Which I by the way.
All in all, you did great with this and you definite got skill You put an enormous amount of detail into this piece, though, I feel that the light source is a bit inconsistent. Outside of that, it's simply great. A true pleasure, and honour to look at. Keep up the great work!
Edit: I just read the tags after I submitted this comment, and I see you have "satyr" as a tag. So yeah, I guess this is a satyr like I first got when I first saw this piece.
Sincerely,
Cyres

Lol glad you noticed in the tags he is a Satyr XD I am glad it shows up clearly upon looking at him too.
This person's character did have unique traits (the eyes mostly) which come off demonic though, part of
the reason I like him.
Thank you so much though, I am glad you took a look at everything <3 your comment helped let me know that
everything is coming across right-such like being able to just imagine how soft his hair could be and the feeling of
them looking down at you~.

For ProjectComment ,
This is a very interesting picture. The character has features which border on demonic, like his eyes and horns. But the ring of light (in the sky I'm assuming as the perspective makes it a little difficult to understand what that light is) and his white hair give a more angelic appearance. The ears and bare chest give a primal feel while the little silver ring pendant gives him some link to the civilized world. Those tattoos (or markings) on his arms build intrigue, and the look in his eyes make us wonder about his motivation.
You put an intense amount of detail into this picture, and I love that. The little orbs of light in the background, the nose ring, the texture of his furry ears. You can even see the hairs on his arm. Some of the details blur a bit, however, so maybe make them more prominent next time? Your body language and facial expressions are exquisite, but the arms just look a little strange anatomy wise. They look as though they aren't quite long enough. That might just be me though.
Good luck with future endeavors!

Tannaku [2016-05-15 18:51:53 +0000 UTC]
For ProjectComment , fav.me/da284zq ! Hey there!
The one word in my mind over this is "definition". This has it. While your forms may not be the sharpest, they are very clear, and I can tell where one section ends and another begins, which adds to this "straight-forward" temperament. This figure is staring me down. The sphere behind him seems to agree. Your colors are full and your lines are convincing, the white body paint showing off the curves of his figure which give the subject depth and impact, and those purple eyes are staring me down. But something seems a little off.
The sphere behind him, which to me appears to be a moon or planet, or Death Star, has lighting as if it eclipsed a light source behind it. However, there is a clear light source from the top right corner, lack of one from the left, yet the entire sphere is outlined. Because this subject enjoys already how the light from the right stretches over him, I would instead focus on reworking the light of the background to better align with the rest of the work. You have here a nice contrast of realism and fantasy, but the light's inconsistencies do not play to either of these things. Another big thing I see is that most of the subject's right (our left) side is farther down than his left (our right). The collarbone and the arm are most prominent examples of this, but judging by where you placed his right nipple, that may be an effect of the pose. However, because his right jaw is also set farther down than his left jaw, it makes me wonder if this was intentional. Lastly, I believe that the mood of the piece has an opportunity to be perhaps not intimidating but present and fierce. The sharpness of the subject's eyes and burly appearance open an opportunity for this, as well as the symmetrically aligned sphere behind him. It is very close to being overbearing. In a good way. His pose, crossing his arms, would suggest the desire to communicate power or presence as well. However, his features are much too sympathetic for this to perfectly come across. The soft-set eyebrows, subtle hint of a smirk, leave me confused as I look at his arms, down-set chin, and prominent staring eyes. I am not sure what I am supposed to feel. But I believe you have the perfect set up to expand the subject's presence with his expression and create a more overwhelming effect.
This piece is a prime example of using simple techniques combined with great skill to create an effective piece of artwork. Although I question some of your artistic choices I cannot deny the impact and themes already present in it. However, I believe that reworking the lighting, following the pattern of symmetry as far as the shoulders, arms, and jaw are concerned, and using a more fierce or intimidating facial expression will emphasize and increase what you have already established thus far.
A pleasure to look at, a pleasure to analyze, surely something that I can learn from just by studying. Nice work!

Hi there, I found this through
Wow... I love the level of detail you put into him! The realism shading is fantastic, right down to the little hairs on his arms and the hints of them on his chest. The hair... again, wow. Hair is hard to do right, but you truly captured the motion and depth without over-shading Everything has a natural flow, from the wind blowing in his hair to the slight smirk and the relaxed yet slightly defensive posture. You can really see every little detail in his horns, I love the highlighting colors you chose, makes the lighting appear natural and varied. His ears are also stunning, with the little hairs sticking out just enough to be noticeable and compliment his expression without distracting from his expression.
The one thing I would say is maybe a little off? Is that in some places the shading feels a little off balance. Like in his collarbone; the viewer's right seems less harsh than the left. Something about the rib-cage is also bugging me a little, but I can't quite put my finger on what.
Overall, I love the aesthetic and the time and effort you clearly put into this I've started dabbling in realism shading but am not nearly at this level yet. That you were able to incorporate the tattoos/markings without them looking plastered on is quite a feat, and I look forward to seeing more of your work
