Description
Well, this definitely wasn't what I was originally planning to make, but I'm happy with it nonetheless.
Just in case there's any confusion on what's happening, Rainy Turtloid is exploring a highly toxic and polluted area (caused by the Eurasia crash), and is talking to someone on his com-link about the water quality.
I think there's about 3-4 firsts in this picture for me:
*First time drawing Rainy Turtloid
*First time drawing an absolutely filthy character
*First time drawing said character partially submerged in thick, slimy liquid
*First time attempting to draw a giant pile of scrap metal
I remember that while I was coloring in the distant scrap, I realized that the vertical pencil lines made it look pretty ugly, so I started using the pencil smudge technique to fix it. Then my sis taught me a trick where I could use a tissue instead of my finger. Not only did it work better, but it helped protect me from the friction and dirt. Anyways, I ended up using this for the rest of the scrap and for the sky.
Also, since I didn't have very much reference as to what the remains of a giant metal wreck should look like, I ended up taking inspiration from the pieces of scrap left behind from the aurora in subnautica (since I've been playing it lately). I probably could have added more chunks, but I didn't wan to take attention away from the picture's main focus: Rainy Turtloid (̶o̶r̶ ̶"̶S̶O̶U̶P̶ ̶M̶A̶N̶"̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶s̶i̶s̶ ̶c̶a̶l̶l̶e̶d̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶)̶.
I may make a follow-up sketch of him being cleaned up later, but I haven't committed to it.
