Here's this as proof I'm not dead.Well its not spectacular, but I felt like posting something with chii in it, since I got some negative response on the other chii that I did... funny how that happens, lol

I thought I'd screw around a bit with the background... pretty sucky, but maybe next time I can make something like this work.

Thanks, but its not really fair to compare artists to each other. People should compare themselves to how they were doing a year ago to mark for progress.
That's the standard I use.
The hair was bad by what I know I could do at the time, and I must work harder to do better.

As much as I'm pro people being comfortable with themselves.. I don't think obesity should be thought of a good thing. With obesity, comes many health complications.. Just like Anorexia.. Soo. Not exactly my favorite depiction of Chii. But the work in this is good. Just not the image itself and the message it seems to convey.

I appreciate the time you took out to post a comment on this work, however your statements sound to me more like bigotry than honest concern. People ought to have the right to look how they want and appreciate beauty where they find it.
A person's medical concerns are their own. Being "overweight" may be associated with various risk categories, but such is the case with many lifestyle choices.
Also remember, this site is supposed to be fun. Don't take the art here too seriously.

I apologize if you found my comments offensive, as that was certainly not the intent. I wasn't attempting to slap you down, but rather to point out that the kind of comment you made could easily be hurtful in the given context.
I wouldn't necessarily consider the character depicted in your comment as "obese" and even if they were I don't see how this kind of depiction should be disallowed or viewed as wrong.
Your previous comments seemed to imply to me that you think that there is something inherently wrong with drawing chubby characters or that people should hate themselves for being fat.
I was merely pointing out that if that was your intent, it directly conflicts with your previous statement about self acceptance.
If this wasn't your intent than I withdraw my criticism.

It wasn't my intent at all. I said that people should feel comfortable with themselves.. But merely what I was saying was that it seemed that your intent was to promote "chubbiness". If this was not your intent as well, I take back my criticism. But you tended to overlook the fact that I did NOT say that they should HATE themselves. You seem to have twisted my words at that point. That merely instead of which they should try, for the sake of their health get better. But I can see no matter what what I say, it'll just tick you off anyways... I tried to be mature, but all you did was criticize me. good day.....

Well exercise is good for you whether or not you're chubby, so I think we can agree on that point.
"Don't hate yourself" ends up being a bit of a hollow statement if its followed by "its not ok to be chubby". I know that may not be what you're actually saying, but that's what your words seem to imply to me.
Its important to be healthy, but this is not necessarily directly connected to body image. I person can be very large but also work out every day, eat healthy meals, and have a high percentage of lean muscle mass. One could also be skinny, not exercise at all, and eat nothing but junk food.
Obviously art is up to interpretation and what message you take home from it is up to you. However I would like to think that part of what my art is saying is "you don't need to think of yourself as ugly just because you happen to be chubby" or "chubby can be cute too".
This is a completely different issue from the health message.
There are more than enough messages in the media that are telling people "you have to be skinny" and "if you're not, then that makes you ugly". Partially because of this, a lot of people do significant harm to themselves in the blind pursuit of some perfect body.
In this context, I can't see how a few images that seem to say "you can be chubby and cute too" could be considered terribly harmful.
As far as criticism goes, please keep in mind, you came to my page and posted comments on my art. If you didn't want to hear a counter opinion, you shouldn't have posted in the first place.
If you're as done with this conversation as I am, feel free to not post a response.

I normally don't like seeing characters given body types they don't have whether skinny or fat, but you've pulled it off nicely, you actually know how to draw fatter characters! She looks so adorable, I love her face

I really like this. its really nice. It DOES prove that big is beautiful and its wonderful to see ppl as creative and talented as you express yourself through your opinions. But I have to say drawing fanart of chobits like this isn't something i'd like too much. I like this because its chii and you are a great artist. I LOVE THAT YOU EXPRESS YOURSELF.
