I think it's fair to say that anyone wearing a sack over their head while wielding a bloody chainsaw and charging at you with deranged intentions is some sort of douchebag. But I'm horrendously bad at this game, so maybe I'm just biased. Maybe.

Asjfk you have a gun, Leon, use it. I wanna see a BOOM, HEADSHOT!

I love how cartoony this is, yet how you also kept realistic anatomy (barring facial expressions, obviously). The simple background is pretty effective, too. :3 Monotone (like the game, OOOOH), but very easily to tell what they're running on, and what's in the background. The bits of dirt kicked up around their feet is a very nice touch, too. And the few hairs Leon just lost off his head. xD Noo, come baaack, he needs those!

This picture makes me wish I was a lot better at this game, so that I could, you know, play it. I need practice. D:

My last serious comment: ffffff, dem thighs.

Uh, well, duh. It's Douchebag Salvador, don'cha know?

Awww, it always makes me sad when people say they're bad at this game. D: Is mah faaavorite!

You do know you have to shoot him something like ten times with the handgun just to get him to stagger, right? One clip only does so much...
Dr. Salvador is BOOM!headshot-proof. :/

Thank you! It was just a quick funny I did as a break from other stuff I'm doing. I'm glad it was effective. :3 Monotone like the game... fffff heeheehee...

I've played it an obscene number of times.... like... over 20... >_>;;

I wouldn't, I never made it far enough into the game to actually meet the jerkass head on. I'm forever stuck at the first little village thing. I keep getting cornered, and my aim sucks! I do know about it requiring a lot of patience and bullets to take that thing on, though. There really needs to be a way for Leon to run fast and also shoot. Or they could have just given him a jetpack.

It's a good game and I like it. I just can't play it worth crap.

Everything in that game is brown and grey. Everything. Just like real life. No, the grass can't be anything other than brown, and the sky is always colourless, STOP SPREADING LIES, YOU'LL PISS OFF THE VOLCANO.

That song haunts my nightmares. Forever.

Awww. What a depressing place to be stuck in. And yah, it does take a lot of firepower, but you can just keep running away. That's what I do with enemies that like to pwn me. Run around, run around, run around, shoot, shoot, run around... lather, rinse repeat. And yes, that is what we like to affectionately refer to as "Leon's pansy-ass combat jog." Can't you run any fasteeeeerr?! D8

Fwahaha?! Volcano, what? XD

Depressing and funny.

I actually tried that the last time I played. Didn't work out so well. But Leon was also limping and wounded, so that just made his "running" worse! (When he's not limping, it's a sexy run, no doubt, but holy shit is it impractical. There needs to be a Running 101 for every character starring in a horror game/movie. )

Yes. The Volcano. Our lord and master. D< Don't make it blow its top!

Oh God, MSI. MSI haunted my highschool years. xDD I haven't listened to them in forever.

Oh good lord. Leon is useless when he's wounded. D: ...As far as getting away from anything, anyway. And shmexy it is. Ohh, is it ever. X3 And this is why I still prefer playing the game with the normal costumes. The view's better that way. >:3

AHA! A special track team for the horror survivors! Oh god... one could make a really interesting (and cracky) comic about that...

Yessss. :3 I have the Wii version.

Honestly? In my opinon, the game has a fantastic concept. It's creepy, but in a very Freudian way. Lots of sex and death and combining of the two. And, er, some application of Freuds's "theories" and ideas... Not saying which ones, but cough cough, you can probably guess. The game isn't really scary, not in the same way as previous games, but it has its moments. The chase sequences are more annoying than anything, but atmopshere and voice acting was very well done. Not the best soundtrack, but most of it is really effective. And the UFO ending is the funniest thing I have ever seen. Say what you will about Climax!SH gameplay, they're masters at joke endings. If you don't mind spoilers, look up the UFO ending. So many SH references in 30 seconds minute... x'D And pfftftftf, the charscter that interupts them, yesssss! >:3

There are also loads of small details everywhere - graffiti, voice messages, etc. - that are still fun to find. :3 I honestly missed those in Origins and Homecoming. The little disturbing details add so much.

So, yeah. xD Best Western SH by far. It's worth a play, especially if you like alternate character and canon interpretations. If you don't have a Wii, there are also a PS2 and PSP versions. Now we just have to wait for the next SH game. AHAHA, HIS NAME'S MURPHEY PENDLETON, PFFF. And he looks like the lovechild of James and Henry. I love him already. xD

Pfft. James would know a lot about love, wouldn't he?
OFF-TOPIC, BUT THIS IS EPIC: [link]

L-lucky!

I read about the personalization and fluidity of the game in a magazine before it came out. I've been dying to play it ever since. T_T (I wish I had a Wii... ohh, do I ever wish I had one...)
It seemed like the absence of weaponry might make the chases a hassle, but I still thought the idea was interesting. I was really intrigued with how they were talking about implementing the Wii-mote as the character's iPhone... [fidgets in seat like a caffeinated eight-year-old] I just wanna play it so baaaaaad!

But I have a PS2, that I do...

I didn't wait to unlock the UFO ending in SH2, so... >_>; (But then, I made a personal rule that I had to beat it on the hardest difficulty before watching it... which I haven't... I cheated. v.v;; Hooray for save files in opportune places! 8D)

Murphey Pendleton? ...Is he a CPA? 'Cause he sounds like he should be. owo;

Oh. Ho ho. I hadn't thought about that.
...I think that should be mandatory watching material for everyone who writes fanfics... X3

The-Wall-flower In reply to XyzaDT [2010-10-01 01:33:19 +0000 UTC]

I found that the chase scenes were a bit of a hassle not because of the lack of weapons, but because it's so easy to get lost and ganged up on. ._. But the good news is that if you fail, you start right from the beginning of the nightmare sequence. Once you figure out where exactly you need to go, you're pretty much good to go. Mostly. xD

They actually did do quite a bit with the Wii-mote. All of your incoming phone calls actually come from the speaker inside of it, which is pretty cool. And half of the phone calls and messages you can get are right demented. o_o

As far as I know, the PS2 and PSP versions are the same, just with some control changes and slightly longer loading screens.

The UFO ending for Shattered Memories does spoil the major plot twist of the game, so... If you don't mind having a big OMFGWHUTAREYOUSERIOUS moment ruined for you, watch it. xD If not, the game is only 5-6 hours long, like any other SH game, so the wait wouldn't be too bad.

Actually, Murphey's an escaped prisoner who thought it would be a good idea to hide out in Silent Hill. xD There's also a cop after his ass and I'm getting msjor Cybil vibes from her. It's being done by an entirely different group this time (a Czech group, I've heard), and they got the composer from the TV show Dexter to do the music, so... Cross your fingers and hope they can pull it off.

It should. >D And I say this as someone who writes fanfics~ But they're all on my LJ now. And they're all TTT so far, lol.

HOMG, BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN. I cracked up so hard at Harry's lines. I had to literally leave the room to catch my breath. ;A;

CAN YOU HANDLE THIS MASTERPIECE I DON'T THINK SO: [link]

...Oh dear. I get lost so easily in games, too. D: I got epicly lost in Devil May Cry 3 AND 1, and in Resident Evil 4... How do you even DO that? D': Restarts are good, though. Having to replay half-an-hour worth of stuff because I was stupid and got myself killed makes me not want to play certain games. Here's lookin' at you, older Resident Evil games... [cough] >_>

When I read about that implementation of the Wii-mote, I thought it was one of the coolest effing things I've ever heard of in my life. I still do, but I'll still probably play it on my PS2 (since that means I can play it sooner rather than later. )

Aww. I'll wait for the UFO, then. 5-6 hours... Ah hah hahhh... It always seems to take me a ridiculously long time to beat a game for the first time... Try something like seven for SH2. Nuuuuurr....

Alright, so I'm a bit confused. This Murphey gentleman... is he in Shattered Memories, or is this a new SH game you're talking about? I thought Cybil was in SH:SM, and I thought Akira Yamaoka was still the composer. D:
Hide from the law in Silent Hill? Oh man, talk about an epic fail... XD

XD Pffffffwahahaha.... (And sadly, I have still yet to see The Watchmen... )

MUSIC MAKES THINGS EVEN MORE EPIC: [link]

The-Wall-flower In reply to XyzaDT [2010-10-02 03:03:12 +0000 UTC]

How did you get lost? Easy: you took a wrong turn.
/Is slapped

Older RE games are worth playing for the narmy dialogue alone. It's all the awesome of so-bad-it's-good B-horror films, but with tank controls and limited inventory!

The controls are pretty innovative, and outside of the nightmare sequences, I actually did like them a lot. Even if Climax doesn't exactly succeed with all of their ideas, it's hella-awesome that they still try anyway.

It took me 8 hours to beat SH2, but that's because I stopped to look at everything.
And then I got the In Water ending for it.

I was not a happy camper that night.

Oh, sorry! Cybil is in SH:SM. I meant that as of right now, a different company is making a new Silent Hill. D: That's the one with Murphey Pendleton. There's a cop in that game too, and she chases after him into the town (or at least through the woods on his way to town, I dunno, there's only a trailer and a small clip of footage right now).

Akira Yamaoka left a couple of months ago, actually. From what I've heard, he's a freelancer now. So for the new SH game, they got someone else to do the music.

Here's the trailer: [link]

Lol, Batman.
I totally forgot there's going to be an Avengers movie. xD Heee yay~

IT DOES, BUT IT'S NOT AS EPIC AS DOUBLE AGENTS: [link]

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

XyzaDT In reply to The-Wall-flower [2010-10-02 04:33:05 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I took the right turn, and then couldn't find the door/path/cutscene to go forward, so ran around in circles for hours trying to figure out what to dooooo. D: Nothing makes me feel like more of an idiot than having to look up an online walkthrough because I walked past the same door twenty times and didn't see it. DX

Ahaha, yes, yes. You just can't beat lines like "the master of unlocking" and "Ada, wait!" and (Half an hour later) "Ada, WAIT!! D8"

Mmm, yep. In Water for me, too. There's nothing wrong with having an appreciation for the aesthetics of a virtual world (Especially since wandering off-track is how you find all the good stuff. :3 )
(Me as) James: Oh, so I need to go to the hospital now? Well, the hospital's right down this street, so... I'm gonna go see what's over here! [skippity-do-daah~!]

Ohh, I see. Eeenteresting... Man, there's something about seeing the title "Silent Hill 8" that just kinda slaps you in the face. ^_^;;; The trailer does look promising, though. And you're right, he does look like the lovechild of Harry and James... and what's-his-face from The Room must be his stepfather... XD

D: Silent Hill without Yamaoka? This makes me sad... I hope the Dexter guy keeps with the ambient noise that Yamaoka had... I felt like the soundtrack made SH2 ten times creepier than it was without. (In fact, I think I had to beat it with the music turned off the first time, since it freaked me out so much... )

[snerk] Oh, Cloud... that's all I have to say. XD
BUT DO THE AGENTS HAVE A ZOMBIE PLAN? HUH?! [link]

Ugh, I hate it when that happens. I had the same problem at the end of the first disk of FFVIII. When it's a pre-rendered background and the characters are far away from the camera, it gets really difficult to tell how the hell you're supposed to get across a roof to the Sorceress. D< Until it became super obvious 15 minutes later. God, did I ever feel stupid.

Or how about that time where they almost made a Jill sandwhich? Classic.
Or Leon's random Kumbaya joke. He was totally disappointed when his drivers didn't want to sing with him. I can see it in his CGI eyes.

Lol, limb-flailing skippity-do-dah. I now need to see that. I must find a James cosplayer and convince them to do this!

Well, it technically should be SH6, because Origins is a prequel and Shattered Memories is a stand-alone game outside of the main time line, but SH 8 is just a working title, so it will probably change the closer it gets to the release date.

Really? Wow, I must be some sort of freak. xD I frequently fall asleep while listening to SH soundtrack music and ambient noises. Or maybe I've just listened to them so much that I've become desensitized. For the most part. The Historical Society/Prison still majorly freaks me out.

Yes they do, and it's called PAPER STEAMPUNK: [link]
Lets see those Zombies om nom their way through paper armor! D<

What was awesome for me is in Devil May Cry (1), there's this bit where you can either jump across a gap in the pathway to get to the next mission, or you can jump down (if you'd like to grind and kill things for a while.) Trouble is, because of the oh, so wonderful fixed camera, you can't see the other half of the pathway until you jump toward it. (Which doesn't help if you don't know it's there.) DX And if you do jump down, you have to go through several floors of this mansion to get back to that path again to move on. [grumblegrumble]

Barry wants a Jill Sandwich. XD
Or Leon's famous, "Where's everybody going? Bingo?"

Oh my god... that is a visual that's just screaming to be made into a looping animation... (Like that Gayest Treacle thing somebody on dA made not too long ago...) >D

Ahh... good point. I didn't figure they'd keep that title, but it just brought the fact home that there have been so many games in that series now...

Well, I find the OST to SH2 quite relaxing now, but... not when I first played the game. -w-;
And, gzzzzzaaaah, the Prison... Skin crawling... especially the cell corridors... When I walked into the first one, I immediately said "fuck THAT," turned and left, and spent twenty minutes trying to find a way around it... It's ridiculous how freaked that game made me in the first playthrough...

[Dies] Okay, alright... You got me. That Commodore 64 comment killed me.
So I'm gonna go sit in the corner and eat my Jill sandwich... [link]

I don't remember that part, but I do remember running around in the sewers in DMC 2 and hating every second of it because of how easy it was to go around in circles. You love the hell out of those fixed, annoying cameras, admit it! What do you think video games are capable of, real-time graphics and a camera you can control? PFFFFT.

Barry wants a lot of things. Doesn't mean he's going to get them. D< He can settle for a Wesker salad! Or Chris chunky soup! Or better yet, a manwhich.
Ah haaaaa, get it? I'm so ~*~clever~*~

Yup. xD That's not even including the play novel, the arcade game, shitacular! movie, the second movie in the works...

Lol. The first playthrough, it's an effin' nightmare. xD But an awesome one.
Silly gamer, go around obstacles? SH has no use for common sense!

I loved every second of the Prison my first time through, but it made me want to piss my pants. The thing in the jail cell, the huge room with nothing in it but the gallows, the gravestones, Pyramid Head lurking in the Labyrinth (good going self, thinking it was a good idea to explore...). Augh. DMC2 mocks me so. Talk about getting lost... D: I fail so badly at that game... (Even when it's not glitching like a motherf--...) -_-

Heeheehee... Manwich... XD A Barry/Wesker/Chris manwich? Oh god, I can hear the female fanfic writers squeeing now.... DEMENTED SOULS!

Puh... Play novel? 8D;;; That sounds.... awful. But to be truthful, I liked the movie for the effects/ambiance and the music stolen from the games. It made absolutely no sense (as compared to game canon) though. Kinda like how I liked the Resident Evil movies, as movies, but hate them as part of the Resident Evil series... I wonder if that makes me a bad fan? X'D

Oh man, I was thinking of the gallows room, too. And the random sound of horses' hooves until you pick up the horseshoe... That had to be the most effective, simple, and elegant way to scare, when it comes to a horror game. There's no gore, no enemies, no surprises or actual danger in the room, but it's still scary as fuck. X3 And the Labyrinth... James may be anti-athletic and flaily, but he can still run faster than PH. Which is awesome. XD And I greatly enjoyed pilfering PH's knife, even though it's 99% useless... muaha...

Ohhhhnnoooo... That takes me back to high school, and the, er, interesting people I've met in chat rooms. D: How unflattering. And yet it still happens... >_>;
I'd rather be smooooth~ [link]

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

The-Wall-flower In reply to XyzaDT [2010-10-07 03:35:27 +0000 UTC]

I don't remember the glitching. I do remember wondering what the hell was the point of the whole thing, though. There's literally no plot or goal or anything. Just "Hey Dante, here's an island and a hot girl, go kill some stuff." Thankfully the 3rd one redeemed that mess. Ahhh, Virgil~

Can't be as demented as my plans to write Steve/Gun and Wesker/Sunglasses fanfic. ._. /Not ashamed?

The play novel is basically the first game in interactive novel form, for the gameboy advance (I think?). As far as I know it's only available in Japan.

The movie's major and extremely unnecessary plot and character changes piss me off too much (and the random Pyramid Head, wtf). D: The music they used for certain scenes just got confusing, because I remembered what they were actually used for and couldn't forget; they were just really out of place, at least to me. The atmosphere was done pretty well, but other than that... Yeah.

Cybil was awesome, though~ She made it worth watching.

That's half the fun of SH 2. How easily it could make you want to turn off the console with so little. Horror and video games are just meant to be.

High school and chat rooms? Oooohhh sounds scandalous.

... DKCFMSHFNDCFHDX.

You have no idea how much that commercial made me die.

My friends and I are always joking about Gackt and how he's everywhere and will soon take over the world, and we were going on about it a lot yesterday, so the timing of that...

Fuck. You win. I submit. If you need me, I'll be weeping manly tears in that corner over there.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

XyzaDT In reply to The-Wall-flower [2010-10-08 00:51:39 +0000 UTC]

I always kinda wondered about that... (The point of DMC2, that is.) And I had it majorly glitch on me during some boss battle. I kept glitching between floors of a building and then got stuck in midair somehow. o_O I don't know WTF that was about... Haven't played it since... But I've played DMC3, oh yes I have. >:3 Best EVER. I love Jester/Arkham... he's gotta be on some kind of crack.

Ohh man... Y'know... I don't even wanna know. Even though I would still totally read them... I just wouldn't admit to it.

Oh, right right. I remember hearing about that, come to think of it...

Yeah, the way they completely ignored symbolism for the sake of good ol' American shock value made me twitch, too. :/ Makes me wonder what they're going to do for the second one, since they already used nearly every good SH icon they had in the first movie.

HOMG Cybil. You aren't kidding.

Scandalous, no. Ridiculous, yes. And not worth remembering. -_-;;

The-Wall-flower In reply to XyzaDT [2010-10-08 03:43:16 +0000 UTC]

I've talked to many a gamer about the point. None of us know. But I heard that they rushed that game out because of the massive success of the first one, and if that's really the case, then that explains everything.

All I remember of Jester/Arkham is him spanking himself. ._. And his sort-of-flirting with Dante and Virgil.

I heard the second movie is going to be a direct sequel to the first one, so I dunno what they have planned, the ending of the first movie doesn't leave much room for anything else. They haven't used Valtiel and quite a few other 'monsters,' but they're not really icons, not in the same way the Nurses, Pyramid Head, or the town itself are. :/ I as kind of hoping they'd get a different team and director and attempt the second game as a movie, but it's probably for the best that this isn't the case.

I'd let Cybil handcuff me and take me back to the station any day.

Aww. D:

Mmyeah, that's what I heard. That's what'cha get for milkin' the cash cow, Capcom!
I just loved how ridiculous he was as a character, but still managed to come off as maybe being an actual threat. Kinda like The Joker, I guess. -w- Whatever, it works.

...How can you make a direct sequel to that? D: The ending just didn't set up for that (or at least I thought it was semi-elegant the way it was, but as foreshadowing it's just lame.)

I don't think they could pull off making SH2 into a movie at this point, since they already kinda ruined it with the first movie. :/ The beloved American casual moviegoer would go into seizures of non-comprehension. Enough of them had a fit over the first one. At least one person I saw the movie with in the theater stood up when it was over and announced, "I DON'T GET IT. IT WAS STUPID." D: Hooow one can not get that movie...? I give up.

Ohh... There are so many things I could follow that with... XD But I should quit while I'm ahead.

Ohhh man. That was win. I haven't seen/read any Utena, I know, it's a crime but... still.
Speaking of cops... [link]

It's not Capcom's fault they have a milk addiction!
Wait...

The same way you make a movie out of Breaking Dawn: you don't, it just simply exists.

Wow, they didn't get it? The games would really confuse the poor hell out of them, then. The movie is basically the first movie except inverted and really! dumbed down. What's not to get? (Granted, the ending is kind of cryptic, but it's not hard to figure out what physically happened.)

While you're ahead? That sounds like a challenge.

You haven't? You're missing out on a whole boat-load of epic. D: I fandom RGU just as hard, if not harder, than I do TTT, Silent Hill, and Persona 4, and that's saying something.

FFFFF. That cop is now on my list of internet heroes.
OH, BUT CAN DANCING COP STAND UP TO THE TECHNOVIKING? [link]

(Augh, my browser crashed, and ate my reply. D: )

Very good point, there.

Mmmyup. Pretty much. Thus my lack of faith in the collective intelligence of the average American moviegoer. Yes, I sound like a total snob, but... SERIOUSLY? People make me want to cry. D:

I miss a lot of boat-loads of epic, it seems. D: It's on my list! Someday! T_T

TECHNOVIKING IS EPIC, BUT IS HE AS EPIC AS THE POTATO CHIP? [link]

At least you didn't accidentally refresh the page while in the middle of writing a novel-length reply. x'D Which I did yesterday, by accident. ffffffff

I'm not even American and I agree with you. D: You know it's bad when...!

OH GAWDDAMNIT, NOT THE CHIP.

Yes, but, deep down, Americans know Canadians are better. They just don't want to admit it.

LEESAHH!!! That guy soooo reminds me of Rigoletto... in a movie adaptation...

The best part is rewriting everything all over again.

Lol. Canadian's really aren't that much better, trust me on this.
Although that probably doesn't matter; even if you all said something like that, Canadians would have to deny it.

The Room is a masterpiece of So Bad It's Awesome.

Oh wow. I almost couldn't watch that.
