20/3/05: Changed the title.Here it is: my art major for this term
"Inspired by the recent south-Asia tsunami disaster, my aim will be to integrate human expression and emotion into the environment in order to personify the destructive force of nature."
I wanted to create a truly surreal, dream-like and somewhat terrifying atmosphere. Dark, brooding storm clouds and cold greens contrasted against the warmth, life and grandeur of the city were used to create a sense of urgency and distress.
Then there's the monstrosity inside the wave.
My aim was to use shock and awe in order to draw attention to the piece, then invoke deeper thought by including the biblical quote.

I'm so glad I won't be here to witness it. Jesus will be taking me back with Him! Unfortunate for those who are left, though I do not feel sorry for them. Very stunning I must say. I am so impressed with what you used and how used it. It reminds of the Cloverfield poster I once seen. Where in the clouds you see this face.

You'll see it's actually made up of several pretty ordinary photos.
I ended up printing it at 1250x870mm (yes, I got carried away)

I put alot less work into my diary, just printed off all the separate layers to show the changes and printed the work at 2x1 metres, 300dpi.
Why did you choose 150dpi?

And I tend to reduce resolution as the print size increases. 300dpi just isn't necessary for ~1m wide artwork, and looking at my printout on the wall here, the small text looks just fine.
For even larger artwork (say, ~3m high billboards and such) it's normal to work at much less than 100dpi, and the printers for such massive works usually operate at around 30dpi

I figured that with some of the areas of fine detail in mine that I should work on it at 300dpi.
True it was difficult, even with the 4 gigs of RAM, but I felt alot safer that way lol.
I didnt want a 4x1 metre print to be blurry lol, I was scared
Now I know I dont have to work in such high res

Hey, thanks. To tell you the truth, I didn't really plan it... I just did whatever came naturally and then wrote some 'deep and meaningful' stuff to justify it
