O meh God! I made fanart!
Ofcourse true to all my fanarts, its of something that either very few people have heard of/are fond of, or by now their obsessive fandom has died out (in this case almost a decade ago, neh? XD).
But really, I had to get Etoh out of my head otherwise I was going to end up with a thesis about preists. XD Anyways, I adore the Etoh-Fianna pairing in Lodoss (even though she is a 'silly, getting abducted and then being found in almost no clothes' personification of all anime-fantasy girls [somehow, she just seems right for Etoh. Priests can be with silly weak girls? *ahem*]). I am sooo glad she got told off by her father though. Silly girl.
Medium: Markers, .18 Rotring drafting pen (which died in the middle, cursed rapido!) on parchment (not the real one!). Textures graciously provided by my loving scanner.
I'm really not good with fanart. T.T Can anyone even tell who's who?
Record of the Lodoss War (c) Ryo Mizuno (and since there are so many artists, (c) to them too! In this case though, since this is from 'The Grey Witch', and I tried to keep to the artist's style - (c) Yoshihiko Ochi.
(So many mistakes... *hides from shame*)

But suprisingly, the teachers in NCA are swalllowing my manga works pretty well. It's quite shocking remembering what I had heard about your experiences. I still have to go through the final trial though - to see how everyone will react to a totally manga-inspired miniature thesis.

bah....i've only ever read the first volume or two....really really must go back and finish all those now....
anyway, i really really love what you can do with just a little ink and such - all the folds and shading on the clothes looks awesome, and the wood grain in the floor looks great too (i dunno....that part just stands out to me for some reason)
also, really good job on all the different expressions
...and the way the cloak and dress go outside the border just a little really gives the whole picture more depth and elegance....awesome job!

The work with the detail is pretty good, pretty very proz good
the best bit is you defining with straight line instead of cross-hatch. This really brings out quite a charatersitic, 'spically in the dress.

Your first guess as a book was more accurate. Ryo Mizuno originally worked upon a rpg game called Lodoss and then developed it into his books. All of these were so popular that they were converted into animes (OVAs and tv shows) and ofcourse the mangas - which were the most popular, so probably, yip you did hear about it as a show. Not that I have read any of the original books, but I really would truly love to. I'm sure Fianna isn't an airhead in them. ^.^

From all that you describe, the people look more like their OVA versions in Chronicles of the Heroic Knight. Since Etoh is FAT (Okie plump, but still, you can tell he's been lazing on the throne all day

Hehe, my brother has this series! I watched a little of it, but I really like the welcome to lodoss island. X3 It was the best part.
I also have the gag manga for it, which let me get a better grasp on the series. ^^-

I love the wooden structure of the floor and the shadow (or rather thelight) of the window that it throws on the floor.... but shouldn't there also be the wooden structure? o.O it looks okay the way it is now, but I was just wondering xD;
Where are Gim and Woodchuck though...? o.O or weren't they there in this part of the story? x_x *is confused now and will probably start reading her Grey Witch Manga again* XD

But yay! You recognized them all. As for the wooden structure, I'm confused... are you talking about the wall that should have the window in it, or the actual wooden structure I zzzt-ed off? ^.^ Remember when she was rescued, Parn barged into the room and was told off by Deed? Only Etoh came in then to assure her he was a priest and wouldn't harm her. Soooooo... technically, from my view, Deed, Fianna and Etoh should be inside, an embarrassed Parn in between in the door frame (which is the thing I removed) and Slayn, Woodchuck and Ghim outside.
Slayn got added, wall got removed 'cause I thought the pic looked too blah and static.

yesterday evening I got my own manga out of the shelf and re-read the scene ^^ (damn, I gotta read the whole Manga again I think °_°;;; Lodoss has me again xD)
I actually was surprised that the background setting you used and also the window was exactly the same in the manga. And now I understand why Wood and Gim aren't there too xD;
about the wooden structure.... I meant, it's everywhere on the floor, but not where the light from the window falls on the floor. o.O As I said, this is not really realistic..... but it looks good enough the way it is now ^^

This is so cute, I like the little 'cough' sign that guy is making, and the clothes are fantastic!! The inking is nice and clean and that's a tricky angle you used, but you pulled it off well!

Oooh yip, you'd never read Lodoss... the embarrassedly coughing guy is Parn. In this particular scene, he had just barged into the room the princess was being kept in before being told off by Deed. XD
