Description With the completion of the last Inuyasha related image I thought that I'd attempt one more before moving on to something else......

Aside from Kagome and Inuyasha, I have always enjoyed the interaction between the characters of Sango and Miroku, two important supporting characters of the series. Within the story itself, though it seems obvious that these two have very strong feelings for each other, most of the time it seems that Miroku's rather.... "bold" behavior always seems to kill the romantic mood. And yet, I think when all things are said and done, these two will most certainly end up together; becoming truly close and comfortable with one another; Miroku's bad habits and all.

I was inspired to paint an image that depicted this type of intimate contact.... And so, I came up wtih this concept with the two of them lying together on the grass, naping in each other's arms. I even have Miroku's hand resting on Sango's shoulder..... And as many fans know, it's "the" hand, the one with the dangerous wind tunnel or the "Kazaana" and yet, I'd like to think even so, Sango would feel comfortable enough to allow this; that she trusts him enough, even in such a deep sleep. This also goes along with the feeling of innocence that I wanted to depict in the image. Perhaps Sango and Miroku are completely unaware that they have fallen asleep in this manner, and yet because of their connection, they are able to rest soundly and securely.....

When composing the image, I thought about creating a sort of balance much like the concept of ying and yang. The figures themselves seem positioned in a similar manner, but I thought that I would add their weapons of choice to strengthen that balance on each side. I also have a great love of patterning so I wanted the blanket on the grass to be colorful, yet hopefully not so much that it takes away from the figures themselves. As always the image is painted with opague water color.

You're welcome! Say, I'm sorry if this is sudden, but I've noticed that there's hardly any new art of Inuyasha, and I was wondering, would you be interested in drawing more? I hope that's okay

Aw, I'm sorry but these days with my newborn son I don't have as much time for art as I used to.  I hope that will change some day though.  I appreciate your interest!  Take care now and thanks again!

Aw, thanks dear! Yes, this is one of my older works and it seems it has the most favorites and views. I'm not sure how I feel about that, as I like to think I've done superior works since then, but I'm also very happy that its still received well after so many years! I appreciate it!

Thanks dear! Yep, I painted that one back in 2005.  It's still one of my most well known pieces, though at times I find that a little odd, since I like to THINK that I've painted better works since? Ah well....

LOL!!!
That's how it goes!

I guess it's due to the rarity of it and it's very charming.

Oh, gosh, I think you'd do fabulous Lady Oscar fan art with your style.

I had to look into who Lady Oscar was, but after seeing her, I realized that I had seen her design before. Maybe someday that'll be something I consider! I appreciate it!

The Lady Oscar anime is my favorite followed by Inuyasha.
I've seen Lady Oscar more than 10 times.
So, you can imagine.

That's really really cool that you can appreciate older titles, as I find some of my favorites are from the early 90s and such.  I feel that anime was a bit more plot driven and compelling in those days in comparison today.  ....  Even Inuyasha was pretty developed when you compare it to some more recent titles. But that's just me....

vanityfair In reply to Yamigirl21 [2015-09-08 21:29:18 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you on that one.
Although, I do appreciate the new technology being used on anime today, I feel that the
plots are more lacking than the earlier ones.
The earlier ones 80's and 90's were more stronger in story and there was more imagination.
Nowadays, I notice that they are darker.
It's true, even Inuyasha is pretty developed and I think there's reason for that.
Rumiko Takahashi, the author of Inuyasha, is contemporary with Ryoko Ikeda, the mangaka of Lady Oscar (Rose of Versailles).  So they are practically the same age.

There was this other anime I used watch, it's not for everyone but even it had a developed plotline...have you heard of City Hunter?

I know what's popular today are those like Bleach and Naruto.
Honestly, I saw one or two episodes of each, maybe a little more and I still don't see what the appeal is.  But that's me.

It's cool girl.  I agree what a lot of what you said.  Most of my favorites really are from the 90s and maybe some of the early 2000s.  I think the focus was more on story and imagination, much like you said.  I think animation studios were pickier about what they chose to animate too.  But these days there's just SO much anime out there, I sometimes wonder if its a race to get MORE titles out, regardless of the quality.  Who knows, but I know it's nothing like it was and I feel a lot of the magic of anime has been lost over the years.  I certainly haven't seen much in recent years that really appealed to me. And these days I wonder if I ever will.  I've never seen City Hunter but I think I've heard of the title.  I do like works from Yuu Watase, who is still active today.  I liked some of her anime and manga titles like Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres, though she's also released some shorter manga titles that were never animated.  I know she's currently continuing her Fushigi Yuugi series with some prequel titles, and doing some more shonen works like Legend of Arata.  I know Rumiko Takahashi is also still writing with a new manga/anime title but I haven't checked it out yet.  No worries on not understanding the appeal of Bleach or Naruto either as I could never get into those myself.

lately, I've been watching anime like crazy!  It must be since I haven't seen any for 3 years.  Some of it is good, one was great, and the others okay.  Out of curiousity, I've decided to take a look at the mangas these animes are based off of.  Wow!  Those anime people had their work cut out for them.  For example, Kamigami no Asobi... watched the anime first.  It wasn't bad but it could have been better.  Decided to read the manga...the anime was a vast improvement on the storyline!

Fushigi Yuugi is not my favorite of Yuu Watase (although, not all of it was bad...loved Nakago) however, Fushigi Yuugi had that magical quality I do miss in today's anime.  Loved Ayashi no Ceres!  Heck, I even hate to say it, but Dragonball Z was even magical!  YUGIOH!

I loved Ruronin Kenshin!  And it was magical!  Cowboy Bebop!  Samurai Champloo!
Even SailorMoon (after being practically tied up and forced to watch this series)...LOL!
But it was Magical!

Actually, I have found a somewhat recent series that does have that magical appeal... Uta no Princesama.
Saw all 3 season recently and it left me in a happy mood.

hello dear! I hope you've been doing well!  Sorry for taking forever to write! With my new job I have very LITTLE free time now. ><  I wish I could watch more anime these days but I still find that none of the ones I've tried have really grabbed me.  I ended up like a strange one recently called "Parasyte."  It's not my usual kind of title but I was interested in seeing where that would go, and I read some of the manga in the 90s.  That one actually surprised me and even made me cry as opposed to that NEVER happening with Sailor Moon Crystal.  I haven't seen a lot of the ones you mentioned above (the newesr ones) but maybe I'll check them out.   I of course did see a lot of the older titles though as I think I watched anime left and right in the 90s and early 2000s. I miss those days....  But anyways thanks for the recommendations and Happy Holidays to you!

I've heard of "Parasyte".  So, it's good?
Recently, I saw "Death Note".  I was reluctant at first but then it really surprised me.  I did cry.

Yes, I do miss those old days, I have to admit.  Those were fun.

New job?  How's that going?

Right now, we are dealing with what's going on with my father.
We took him to a neurologist and after many tests, she diagnosed him with the beginnings of Parkinson's.  I asked her if that was reversible.  She said that no neurological condition is reversible.

However, we are people of faith and we believe different.

Yamigirl21 In reply to vanityfair [2016-01-18 19:53:19 +0000 UTC]

Parasyte is a WEIRD anime, about parasytic alien life forms that take control of humans.  It's not my usual type of anime, but every now and then I get into something outside of the box if the writing is good enough.  It was very violent and bloody, but thought provoking and even emotional at times.  Sometimes I'm drawn to those elements more than anything else.  I can't say I'd recommend it, as I'm not sure if it'd be something you'd like for those reasons, but I actually enjoyed it and was moved by it MUCH more than Sailor Moon Crystal, which I watched at the same time.  Go figure....

I only saw about 16 episodes of Deathnote, but I did enjoy it.  Maybe sometime I'll try the rest.

The new job has been very very demanding.  I don't have a lot of free time at all.  But I hope things improve soon.  Please wish me luck.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father and that it took me so long to tell you.  It's going to be difficult, but I know that the actor Michael J. Fox has that condition, and I think he's had it for over 20 years now!  He seems to be going strong and I bet your dad is a fighter too! Hang in there and draw strength from each other.  I certainly do think now is the time to rely on faith and I'll wish you the best too!  Until next time then!

vanityfair In reply to Yamigirl21 [2016-02-03 04:11:58 +0000 UTC]

I won't say that I'll never watch Parasyte.  It depends on the mood I'm in.  At the moment, I rather stay away from extremely bloody stuff.  It doesn't mean I'll never see it, though.

I love things that make me think.  Gets my imagination going.
As for Sailor Moon, I've had enough of it.  I'm not going to say that I didn't watch the ones back in a day and it was fine at the moment but it was never my favorite.  However, when you are living at a dorm and you're absolutely bored, you'd watch almost anything.  I stress on the "almost".

I'm not going to wish you luck on your new job.
I'm going to pray that you be blessed in it.
Believe me, there's a huge difference between being lucky and being blessed.
May God bless you in that job and bring more blessings onto you and your husband.  And if you have kids, on them, too!

My father is stronger than he gives himself credit for.
Yes, it's going to be hard.
I know that God doesn't give people sickness but he does use situations like this to bring them close to Him.
I'm going to tell you something.
Before we went to a Naturopathic doctor for his treatment, Dad was very anxious so he asked me to ask the Doctor if there is a natural relaxant.  The doc did prescribed him Formula 303 and Sleepytime Tea.
LOL...it doesn't work on him.
Now, when my sister has taken these, it works on her.
Anyway, we've tried massages, which will work for awhile but not for long.
Even the radio.
You know what's the only thing that's been helping him sleep?
Christian music.
And my father's not a Christian, yet.
And when I read the Bible to him, it calmed him.

Now, on a good note, the natural treatment he's been doing has brought positive results.
He's responding very well.

Before this, he was taking a drug called Siminet ( I think that's how it's spelled) and his body was rejecting it.  It was causing him pain.  The Neurologist changed his meds but then told him that if it causes him discomfort he has to do his best to tolerate it.  YIKES!  This was before the Natural Treatment which consists in changing his diet and taking Supplements to disintoxicate his system and esp. his liver.  It hasn't been comfy for him but it's working.  If you would have seen him 4 weeks back, he was not doing very well.  And if he would have been taking the meds, most likely he'd be all day in bed instead of walking around.  He's still a bit wobbly but little by little it's less.

Oh, yes, and there are also people praying for him.

I know we're not out of the woods yet but I know that together we can beat this thing.
And if it brings him closer to God, which I know it is, then it's worth the momentary discomfort.
^__^
