Description
One of my favorite characters from Robin Hobb's novels, so I thought i'd draw up how I see him in each of the story arcs. I think Golden is probably the one which came out closest to what i'd pictured...even if he does look a bit like a dandified pirate XDRelated content

Hi!Β
I really love this drawing. My sister and I are big fans of Robin Hobb and for her 18th birthday I would like to offer her a printed T-Shirt with a fan art of the fool. So I would like to know if you would agree that I use your drawing. if yes, do you want me to pay you? How much?
Hope, you will see this message soon, her birthday is coming !
ThanksΒ
Marie

Hey, i'm really sorry I didnt see this until now. Hopefully you just went ahead and got it printed for your sis anyway, I totally dont mind if you did (its a compliment!!). If not, feel free to use the design for something in the future, I dont need any sort of payment (it's up here for free after all!), credit would be nice though if you plan to use it more widely

One of the best portrait of Beloved I have ever seen It is hard to pinpoint a character so gender-less as he is, and to show how he could be both a man and a woman. And the outfit! I love, love, love them. I am trying to decide which of the three I like more and I just can't!
Do you take commission, perchance?

Heh, i'm so glad you like them. It took a while to get a fix on how to make him/her look androgenous but I was pleased with how it came out. And I loved designing the clothes.
I do take commissions if you'd be interested. What were you thinking? I do charge though, but my prices are negotiable and if you dont want to pay i'm always up for exchanges

I adored them Your Fool is very Fool-like! I do think that is probably the most "foolish" pose ever
I have no problems paying, commissions mean being paid after all u.u
It is about an OC of a fanfiction I am writing on Fool/Fitz^^ If you are interested...

Sent!
Your is the best Amber I ever saw, too. There are a few pictures of her around, but usually she is either too beautiful or doesn't look like Beloved at all!
Do you think Beloved is a man or a woman? Γ².Γ²

Thank you very much And, if you dont mind me asking, what is it specifically that you think I could improve? I always welcome a critique

Ok. I think you've done the colouring very well, and all in all this is quite nice work, but what you could improve, it's mostly about anatomical details, especially legs and feet, and also hands, maybe.

These are all brilliant, I have no idea who this character is but I love the pictures. Every time you draw characters etc that I don't know or at least haven't seen or read about it makes me want to see them in whatever form.

Hahaha! thank you! Robin Hobb's work is so inspiring i'm finding myself just HAVING to draw the characters and scenes Though if you find some time, or have run out of things to read i'd definately reccomend her books, they're just awesome!

I wish I could get inspiration like that knowing I could put it to use, being able to just draw what's in your head that well must be great.
I have many many things to read, and then I want to reread all my Doctor Who and Torchwood novels when I get a chance, plus I'm still trying to work my way through Classic Who right now (nearly at the end of series 3! Finally! Hoping to finish it today.) But you never know, one day, maybe.

Awww, thanks abi! But you are able to write what happens in your head, which is something I wish I could do!
Hahaha! thats a pretty big reading pile! I've been going through books at a mile-a-minute pace at the mo, cause I basically have nothing better to do XD

It's not the same though, I'd rather be able to draw it because trying to describe a pose is much harder than you'd think and people nearly always seem to interpret it differently to what it's meant to be (for example) and expressions can be infinitely difficult to describe - especially if you don't want it to sound repetitive.
Yeah it is, I've been so slow with reading lately it's ridiculous. Last night was the first time in weeks that I've actually read a book, terrible, I think it's largely because there's quite a lot of shows airing that I'm actually watching, and that combined with trying to work, watching things like Classic Who, writing, interacting with people online, kinda keeps me busy. I am very much jealous of your "nothing better to do" situation. Right now I have 2 bits of coursework and a final year project to be doing. Which basically means two horrendous graphics projects and trying to make a speech recogniser (and I will be getting another piece of coursework before the end of term.) I'm in a constant state of worry, and yet I still watch a lot of TV, play a lot of games and generally "waste" time doing other things.

Mmmm... I guess thats a writers skill then Although poses often present similar sorts of problems sice theres only so many ways the body can move..
Yeah I get that its pretty hard to find time for reading when theres lots else going on :C But you shouldn't be too jelous of my 'freedom'...it gets to the point where i've got too far on my work XD My supervisor basically told to stop with my dissertationn for a few weeks because i'm apparantly turning it into a masters-level project DX And my field studies write up is mostly done but the deadlines not till the end of november...Thankfully we have to start on a project for ecophys soon I do get the bit about worrying but still procrastinating though...I need to start deciding what I want to do next but insted im just ignoring it XD

Abboz In reply to yamiswift [2012-10-15 20:56:43 +0000 UTC]
But that just keeps it realistic - and you avoid the danger with writing of accidentally giving the character 3 hands or something.
You think being "too far" is a problem? I'd so much rather be in that position. I can't even start my project, I've spent days trying to do something that I can't and if I can't do that then I can't do any of the rest of it. I'm never gonna be able to do this. Plus I can hardly find anything for the literature review.
