yeah! and i bet i could point you in the directions of a couple of tutorials to get used to it. its a little scary at first because it is SO way different than anything else, but if you can get a grasp on it, its alot of fun and super clean. (i love clean)

there are only minor updates between cs3-5. the biggest 2 is multiple pages and the line width tool. multiple pages i think was introduced in cs4 or 5, im not certain, but before, you couldnt do a multiple page thing, you only had one. i dont think that will really bother you much though.
cs5 got the line width tool which is a totally awesome tool but in no way necessary. youve always been able to change the width of a line, but the line width tool let you change the width in various area so you could potentially imitate a brush stroke. normally its just 1 continuous width throughout, but with the tool, you can choose to make the end point off, and the middle really fat. alot of fun, and simplifies some things, but again, not totally necessary.

By multiple pages do you mean layers?

no, you can layer all you want. :3 i guess i need to explain it a little better though... ok, you know how in photoshop, you creat your canvas, and everything outside the canvas is untouchable, unseeable grey? not the case in illustrator. you dont have to work on the artboard at all. (artboard=canvas) but when you save it, generally i save it to a pdf, but you could also export to jpg etc, but when you save as a pdf, it only shows whatever is on the artboard. now, in newer versions, you can have multiple artboards, as many as you want, and when you save, it saves each artboard as a page in the pdf. if you export to jpg though, it will just crop to whatever content there is, regardless off artboards.
does that make more sense? because of this, there is some problems bringing a cs3 file into cs5. not impossible... just a hassle, lol.

From the thumbnail, I thought the cake was her dress. *o* And coming from you, it didn't surprise me at all.
This is adorable too, of course!
