Back in the late 80s, calling some gal a "Bow Head" was considered rude and would subject the name caller to profanities from the gal who just happened to be wearing a bow...
At least the trend to wearing bows has resurfaced. I think it's cute.
I find them quite difficult to draw. Bows and high-heeled pumps. I keep promising to overcome this block and put a bow on a certain character and place the rowdy silly one named Roxanne in pumps - after she finds a picture of her Grandma in the 1950s wearing them. (Grandma was also named Roxanne. Grandma had a very high IQ. Granddaughter, not so much.)

Bows are very difficult to draw, I have mastered them somewhat thanks to my Sailor Moon obsession. ....Wow, something good came out of that? XD

I have linked to a past drawing from a sketchbook - my pre Deviantart days - of a character named Anna. [link] This was a persistent attempt of drawing a bow on a gal's head. Often some casual reader - I had to show the book to someone to get them to read it (I do not miss those days) - would think the bow on Anna's head was her EARS as if she was some alien life form. The young woman the character is based on thought I was drawing her "like a bat."
If this was a sci-fi retro-styled comedy, that would be okay...but the intention then was a comic set in 1950s America when we feared the sky would bring us doom in the form of a Russian plane unloading atom bombs on us. And Roxanne was listening to the on-the-air "bombardment" of Rhythm and Blues at night coming from a Southern AM station. Alien life forms would have been rounded up and carted off to Nevada to be hidden in bunkers.
The redesigned Anna is no longer sporting a bow on her head.
