A recent Cracked article on “9 Foreign Words the English Language Desperately Needs ” included a German phrase, (Kummerspeck) which translates literally to ‘grief bacon’; i.e., the act of overeating when depressed or heartbroken.I had to draw this adorable Medic cartoon, forgetting that I have something super-secret that I should be working on instead.

I'm struggling to understand the nature of the male body, including the ways in which it gathers fat. Women don't really have defined oblique/dorsal muscles and we gather fat on our thighs and butt instead of on the flank, so it's easy for us to forget that guys pudge out differently than us.

I've saved a ton of photos from various sources to try and help myself improve. I always feel a bit weird gazing intently at a gay porn photo because I've noticed that one of the men in it has a really interesting forearm....

I know what you mean, gay porn is always a very useful source of poses. People may think you're kinda pervert if you stare a picture for more than a minute, but it worth it.

You know you've screwed up as a German when you get your Kummerspeck before losing your Babyspeck. But being from the land of the "Rettungsringe" I'll always envy you English for your "love handles".

Yes, though men are just as bad about emotional eating as women are. Ice cream is the stereotypical thing in American cartoons for a heartbroken person to be eating- I figured people would understand the gag more easily than if I'd had him eating meat.... that, and I can't think of a way to hold a meat foot one-handed aside from a sausage roll. XD
"Rettungsringe" is sort of like "spare tire", which people also refer to their loved ones' widening middles as. Getting fat is so much fun, though...

Being rejected by your Heavy, (or whatever the hell's got him upset) is a heartbreaking experience for a Medic. And I agree that it would make a great addition to the mess that the English language is- considering our language was cobbled together by germanic, latin and celtic people.....
