Description Since Jol has an extreme dislike for humans, he almost never uses this form. In the rare case he does, his appearance is far more gruff and feral than humans seeing as he far prefers the appearance of feathercloaks. He doesn't bother to learn most of any human language. He can move the mask up to the point where his mouth is visible, but if his mask is removed from his face he cannot turn back to his feathercloak form until it is returned (this is the case with all other cursed/blessed feathercloaks).

The markings along his arms are not scars- they are reminiscent of his pre-cursed appearance.

If you have a cursed or blessed feathercloak they have the ability to turn human, as well as a pre-cursed/pre-blessed appearance. Talk to Maho about it~

As if I don't have enough art to finish up and upload... must make ship art.... and redo Dawn's human form. Because I already thought up a scenario for that too. Why brain...

He looks awesome though. There will be fan art.

I don't have her old one up yet? It might be in my stash. That or the growing pile of "needs scanned" art. Hopefully I can get it all together after things settle down a bit more with moving in. ^^ ''

I totally want to fit in a scene where they both turn human, and I already have ideas on how to do that. All Dawn's fault of course. ^^

O_O "OMGIMSOSORRY!! It's dark, everything was attracted to my back and attacking me, so I turned human and they were scared of me, but then it got super dark and I'm afraid of the dark and cant see anything coming at me, but my human taught me some defense magic and, and, and.... I'm rambling. Sorry. I thought you were a monster. I MEAN I thought you were something coming to attack me!"

Though Dawn fretted rather anxiously about what she had accidentally done, a ghastly thing by Jol's standards, he couldn't help but be .. calmed by her foreign warmth that still remained though she held a different form. He also had this strange urge to bring her comfort... another foreign act of him to bring about.

"... do not apologize, it was not intentional."

And yet, here he was, attempting to calm her down through his gruff voice and ruffled appearance.

"It will be fixed."

(this is really cute by the way)

(It is, I can't help but ship these two. And getting to work on expressions... owo )

"I .... thank you." She still felt horrible. For one, Jol has done nothing but be helpful to her and Candy. All the wild cloaks she knew would have left the pup to fend for himself. And they certainly wouldn't associate with her knowing she stayed with humans. And yet Jol was still... and he hated humans and she just...

She scratched at the eye of her mask, then quickly turned her head to the side and grabbed her sleeve again. She wasn't used to feeling like this. The irritated eyes thing... she didn't have them as a Feather Cloak and this... what did humans call it... crying? She wasn't used to that feeling. It was frustrating. And embarrassing.

"I'm sorry..." she said again. "I've been afraid of things coming to get me in the dark since I was a pup. I've... never managed to get over that fear."

"...."

The concept of being afraid of the darkness was a strange one to him. He saw the dark as a place to conceal, a place to remain hidden. But if she held such concerns... maybe he could do something about that. The lights on Jol's torn cloak grew a bit brighter as she spoke, giving off a dull illumination of the trees around them.

"....creatures dare not come toward these eyes..... so I will help you to your humans."

Dawn looked around them as the trees finally came into view again. Finally feeling a little safer, she relaxed her posture and smiled gently.
"Thank you." she said, even sounding a bit less frightened. She was relieved he could still control the light from his cloak. She wasn't sure if she could do that with hers or not. Though, honestly she'd never tried before. She'd only been human two or three times before, and the was never any need to try so.
She looked down at her hand for a moment, and gently moved her fingers a bit. Trying to get used to having such long.... hands, right? Or were those fingers? After looking at them, she glanced up at Jol for a moment. She wanted to be closer to him if they were going to be walking through the forest. Perhaps... she could hold his hand? That's what humans did to keep close to one another while traveling, right? Candy's human liked to hold onto the adults clothing. She wasn't exactly sure if she should reach out for him, or just leave him be. This was.... an odd feeling.

// Sorry that took so long... needed time to sketch it out. >w< //

Jol watched as she relaxed. This was certainly a good sign. The eerie glowing lights slowly pulsed on his cloak in a manner that almost gave them a life of their own, such as that of a flickering candle. He turned, tilting his head up to attempt picking up scents through his weakened human nose (in doing so, not realizing her next movements). Jol tried remembering which part of the woods she had entered first. If he could take her that far then she maybe she could lead them the rest of the way.

".. I believe you came from the brook-side of the forest..."

Dawn jerked her hand back as he turned away from her. She frowned lightly, then began fidgeting with her fingers again. What was she thinking? Hand holding was a human thing. He didn't like humans. It would be uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. "Y-yes. The children were searching that area for the Griffur again. The girl thinks the creature's nest is close by that area." she replied. Then blushed a bit and looked away. "Candy had heard something in the trees, and ran to hide, thinking it was the creature. When I went to retrieve him from the brush... I..." she began. Then mumbled something about stepping on a snake and getting spooked herself.

When something rattled in the brush behind her, she jumped instinctively and moved closer to Jol. Turning nearly in midair to see what was behind them. Finding a rabbit run from the brush, likely awakened by Jol's light and then spooked by her own jumping, Dawn relaxed.

.... and realized that she had both of her arms wrapped around Jol's arm. Her cheeks grew bright red, and she froze, not sure of what to do.

?!

Jol didn't have much knowledge of human interaction, nor any physical interaction for that matter or what it meant. However he did know she had been startled. How did one help another out of being scared again...? That really wasn't his function.

"It's, just a rodent-"

Dawn felt her cheeks grow hot under her mask as she looked up at Jol. "I... I'm sorry." she apologized again. "I... I wish I wasn't so jumpy. I should know better, especially right now. But..." she said, then scratched at her mask with one hand. Keeping her other arm still locked around Jol's arm.

"I... I guess some things just don't go away. My siblings always tried to leave me in the woods or keep me out of the den when night fell. More room and food for them without the runt around I suppose. I was nearly picked off by larger creatures a few times, and then everyone talked about humans and what they'll do if they catch you and... And I've been afraid of anything that moves in the dark ever since.." It was embarrassing. She was a grown Cloak, not some pup that was small enough to make a snack for some other creature anymore. And she was human right now. Who was going to come and try to rip her mask off? Especially with Jol here.

"........... can I... hold your arm while we walk? Just until I can calm myself down?"

".... if it helps."

He realized as she spoke that the dark wasn't the real reason she was afraid....... but it was things hiding in it. Jol turned his head, hoping the light of his cloak adequately lit their immediate surroundings. Maybe that would be enough.

He led her through the thin trees, following his guess of where she may have entered the forest.

(( Erg, again... Space reserved for when I'm able to upload the pic. ^^ ''' ))

Dawn seemed to calm down as they walked through the tall grass and trees. Her tight grip around Jol's arm loosened to the point she was more holding onto him than squeezing. With the light behind them, she'd only looked back twice before satisfying herself that absolutely nothing was going to sneak up behind them. The harsh shadow they cast before them made her jump a few times as it jerked over previously lit trees , giving the illusion of movement in the dark. But... she didn't jump out of her skin. The light was comforting... but strangely not as comforting as holding onto Jol. That was... odd considering that light always gave her greater comfort and feeling of security in the darkness than company. She shrugged the thought off though. It was beyond the time she would normally be asleep. Perhaps she was just... finally calm enough that she was feeling tired. It did feel good leaning against his arm and shoulder.

And... while nothing in it's right mind would dare to go near Jol's light... there was a certain nocturnal creature that was curious by the strange, glowy, human-like creatures. One that had no qualms about pestering other creatures far more dangerous than it from the safety of hollowed trees or tall branches.

Jol was bothered by the fact most of his senses had been greatly diminished. His sight, hearing, even sense of smell were all things that helped him decipher his surroundings. How exposed humans must feel, he thought, to travel through the forest even in broad daylight. At least his sense of direction was unaltered.

There was yet another thing that put him in a state of unease..... the mask on his face didn't feel as firmly attached as it normally did. In fact it wasn't fastened to his being at all. Before when he was concentrating on other things, he had moved it across his face without a single thought to it, but now..... The realization that it would take little to no effort to take brought a stoic look about him.

// ... I've gotta do it. I'm so sorry Jol, please don't hate me.//

Meanwhile, the fluffy brown nocturnal creature continued to stalk to two silently from the trees. Grettle, as she'd been dubbed by Elmira, crept along the tree branches. Her glowing gold eyes watching the two strange humans below her.

She'd never seen humans wandering around this far in HER forest this late at night before. Let alone these strange humans. The one was glowing like those 'flashlight' things she collects from other humans. But he didn't have one of those stick things. Very curious. It reminded her of that one glowy Feather Cloak that runs around the forest. But... this was a human. So it couldn't be the same creature that always growled at her.

Hmmm... the things on their faces were strange. She wanted a closer look at them. No... she wanted them. They were strange. They were a human thing. And she knew the perfect place to hide them so she'd have them forever and ever.

The griffur let out a soft purr as she adjusted herself on the branch. Her gaze locked onto the tall ears of Jol's mask, and she quietly pushed herself off of the tree. Giving her the sped she needed to glide most of the distance towards the two. Making as little noise as she could at first. Once she was close enough, she began flapping her wings to gain speed. She closed in, and as soon as her feet latched onto the ears of Jol's mask, she took off into the trees again.

(( sorry that took a while. Scanner and camera have been stubborn lately. And my completely digital drawing is not the best....  ^^ '' ))

Dawn couldn't react quick enough to help Jol. She had heard the soft sound of wings in the air, but had been so caught up in how nice it was next to Jol that she didn't think much about it. She snapped out of it when she heard the wings right next to her, felt the wind blow her hair to the side... and looked up just in time to see the Griffur make off with something in her claws. She first recognized the Griffur as the one the children were so set upon finding in the woods. Grettel as the girl had named her.

Then she got a closer look at the.... mask.... in Grettel's claws.

Dawn watched the Griffur fly away in shock for a moment, then realized that.... that meant that Jol was... missing his mask. Her body tensed up again and she gripped his arm tightly as her second greatest fear began to creep up in her imagination. Jol was without his mask. That.... that thing had just ripped his mask off. It hadn't occured to her that their masks were movable. Even with her two other instances of becoming human, she wasn't aware that the masks could come off with no real harm.

All she could think right now was all the stories the elder cloaks in her clan had told about humans ripping masks off of cloaks long ago. How much it hurt, how horrible it was.... and now she was too afraid to look over at Jol and only see half a face.

Jol froze, realizing just how quickly the griffur had vanished from his cloak's light into the darkness. He wanted to chase after it- then he thought about Dawn and her peculiar fear of that same darkness. If he ran now, how easily it would be for them to accidentally split apart. Jol snapped his eyes to Dawn, trying to decide what to do. The racing of his heart needed him to find an answer, and fast. Then he looked down to see her grasping his arm. His human arm ... he could hold to her as well. He'd seen humans do this many times before so they wouldn't end up separating in a hurry. Without a second thought, he held up an open hand and spoke with urgency.

"Run with me?"

Dawn looked down at his hand, then carefully unhooked on of her arms from around his and placed her palm against his. Wrapping her fingers between his to make sure she had a good grip. She looked up at him and nodded her head. "Alright... lets go." she replied quietly as she looked up at him. She relaxed now that she could see that his face was... human. It was all there. NO smoke... no lingering soul stone. He was fine. He... he wasn't hurt. But what would happen if they lost his mask?

She unhooked her other arm from him so he'd be able to run ahead of her in case he was faster on two legs than she was. She wasn't sure how they were going to get his mask back... but they couldn't let the creature get away.

The pursuit began...and this immediately brought more concerns to Jol's mind. These human feet were so heavy and wide, nothing like the agile paws he was used to. What was the point of standing this tall and being so clumsy? These limbs were also big and got in the way movement. Such irritations needed to be pushed aside if he wanted to see his mask again.
