I've seen Sycra color like that as well - starting out dark then lighten and then somehow make color appear. How the color appears I have no clue since I'm using Corel Painter X and he's using photoshop like you.
But it looks very nice, keep up the good work )

Ahh, I adore your colouring style (and drawing in general ;u; ) and this more stuff I need to work on OTL

Interesting XD I have problems using layers with different blending modes coz everytime I go 'Oh, cool, I like this!!' then try different mode on the same layer and 'Oh, cool, I like this' and then...you get the picture LOL I stopped using that coz I can easily spend a day playing with that thing ahaha
But seriously, I think it's not as easy as it may look/sound so even though your style might seem sketchy and less 'polished' in a way, there's lots of work behind it. Kakkoiiii you!!
