What material did you use for the guitar and can this method be used on craft foam

Did you only do the front of the guitar, or did you do the back in a second round of coating? Would you just line up the tape along the edge of the top resin so that you don't end up with a seam or drips?

I poured the resin on one side, let it dry for 3 days, and then did the same thing on the other side.

You are a horrible, horrible woman.  Don't you know it's a bad idea to teach an ADHD person how to make things shiny?!

Thanks for sharing this doll! It is incredibly helpful! I'll need to pick some of this resin up this week when I work on some props! c:

Me too! A quick question, though- do you know if the resin reacts with foam or perhaps plasti-dip at all?

I don't know how Super Glaze (the epoxy resin used here) reacts with foam or plasti-dip, but I'd really like to know.  The only thing I can tell you is that polyester resin (NOT the stuff used here) really destroys foam.  If you want to try, I'd suggest using the Super Glaze on a small piece of foam and something with plasti-dip on it just to experiment.

If you do find out how the resin reacts, please let me know, as I'd be very interested to know.  If I have a chance to test it, I'll let you know too.

Okay doll! Sorry for taking stupid long to get back to you about the Super Glaze/ foam + plastidip question, but I have an answer for you! We were finally able to test it out- so far it appears that Super Glaze cures slowly enough that it doesn't produce enough heat to warp or melt EVA foam, both the floormat and the craft foam varieties. We brushed it on rather than poured it because we wanted a thinner coating and it smoothed out just fine. The attachment is what we're working on at the moment with it; the Ocarina of Time Hylian Shield. I would like to beef up those raised designs on the top but it's going to have to wait at the moment as I'm on a time limit. A interesting thing to note is that when applied to the foam in a thin layer, it stays flexible to a degree with the foam.

If I find out anything else I will be sure to let you know! And let me know if you have any questions hon! c:

Thanks so much for this response! This will be really helpful since I'm working on a prop at the moment.  I'm excited to see how your shield turns out!

No problem hon! Glad to help a fellow propmaker out! The shield turned out pretty darn well! So far this is the only picture I've posted of it where you can really see it, but there should be more coming up soon that you can see it much better. totalexistancefail.deviantart.…

You have no idea how helpful this is! I've been using normal acrylic paint glaze and it hasn't done anything for me. This looks perfect though!! Thank you so much!
