Oh...HELL...yes. The root beer float is one of the few things that I still take pride in as an American. I remember making these for my European friends like, "Oh, you ain't seen NOTHING yet. Just wait 'till you try the ones I discovered in San Francisco..." (Which have ice cream made right in the shop and dark Guiness. Good shit, man...)

The embarrassing truth is that I never tried it... I was quoting a friend!
I hate the taste of alcohol in all its forms; my friends were quite amused when they gave me a glass of fine champagne and I spat it right back out with a cry of, "God, that's VILE!".
I guess I just assumed that some dark stout or whatever would pair as well with ice cream as the old sarsaparilla. Especially when both soda and ice cream were made RIGHT AT THE SHOP LESS THAN A WEEK AGO with REAL INGREDIENTS and SERVED IN TRUE 1950's FOUNTAIN METHODS WHAARRRRGRBLBGRBLL!!!

Lol that's just my grandma's wedding band. I wear it on that hand because it gets in the way when I wear it on the right. It does work well against nampa, though!
