It must be 15 years since I last saw TMNT but that mask I wont forget. I was actually in love with shredder as a kid 
Also his gesture with his hand-weapon over her head can be both seen as a protective act or a mild threat, giving some confusing depth as to what their relationship is

This is actually based on the TMNT 2k3 series! I painted it directly over a screenshot from the opening scene, but changed the armor to black and added Yoko.
And yes, they have a rather... dysfunctional relationship, haha.

An unhealthily supressed passion of two rational vilains, it is an intriguing pair.
About vilains I must agree. The heroes of my stories are always moraly gray or lower. It makes in my opinion the character less predictive and restrained if his/her moral code is not set in stone, something very useful in building suspense and tension.

Heh, well the passion is one-sided. Ryuu is very much in love with Yoko, but she only sees him as a brother. Although she's very clingy towards him, so he's able to release his sexual tension on her in little ways. Pffft, haha.

I wanna see a season of TMNT where the yakuza shows up in New York and the guys have to deal with that. I've always thought that would be cool and this would be an awesome way for that to happen.
