"No cryin', Pet. You know Meiles' spirit always be wit' ya..."So a few have brought up the question: "Don't blood elves have longer lifespans than trolls? Won't Meiles be dead by the time Yarifeth fully matures?"
The answer is simply... yes. And here's a quick little something to show that
Those who have known me long enough know that I love doomed relationships. None of my couples make it. Ever. Or even if they do, one will die too early. Gahahaha, you guys should thank your lucky stars that I am not God. Because I will give you all happiness ONLY TO TAKE IT AWAY. *cackle*
Although actually, with Meiles and Yari, I haven't really decided who will go first. Because I like the scenario of Yarifeth dying first as well.

In a way I like this better than Yari dying first - implied long life together, but she's still in her prime when he's a codgy old fart. Quiet, long-lasting sort of despair.

I remember they loosely pinned down the racial lifespans somewhere, with trolls living on average 80 years . . . High/Blood elves live to be around 350. *whistles*

Hehe it's actually much simpler than that. I take the portal to Blasted Lands, fly over with Master Flying, dive bomb right into the door, screenshot, screenshot, screenshot, die, done! And yeah, the lifespan list is at WoWwiki [link]
Trolls are supposed to live to about 80, but between Yari's priesty powers and Meiles' voodoo, they're able to extend his life up until a bit past a hundred. Then he dies so after a while of being lonely, instead of finding herself a new man Yari decides to study voodoo in order to learn to commune with spirits. A couple decades later she is able to effectively communicate with Meiles :3

That's pretty impressively long for a Troll! And a Voodoo elf - I love it. Although knowing Meiles, he's probably just as rude, lewd, and prone to teasing as ever.

I'm very much into realistic and challenging approaches to my characters ^^ It would be too easy to have Yari be completely accepted by the trolls and be the favorite blood elf of the village and be so loved by everyone

That's REALLY sad. But one thing I want to tell to others, who's just ready to start crying: REAL feelings (as I'm sure this two have) can make peoples (trolls, or elves, or other creatures) stay together even after death. That's doomed enough, I think

Actually, yes, I haven't decided which one of them really dies first, but either way, their relationship will carry on through death ^^ I already know how to do it, depending on which one dies!

In "good ol'" Lord of the Rings and other books by Tolkien, there was no such delemmas: when one of two dies, other will go after him. In real life things are not so easy - and in your stories they are not easy too. That's why I really like them (and also it's amazing art-work, ot couse

Haha true, I don't want their situation to be so easy. There are already so many WoW couples out there who fell in love instantly and constantly show their love for each other. I thought it would be more interesting to have Yari and Meiles have a bit more of a struggle in their relationship.
And yes, if he dies first, then his spirit haunts her for the rest of her life. If she dies first, then he traps her spirit in a relic so that her spirit will follow him everywhere and he can talk to her.

Well, I just wanted to say, that creatures,who really loves someone, will watch and wait him or her even after death. And even Death itself has no power to take them apart. Your vision of "stay together" is much more practical

Oh hahaha! Well If Meiles dies first, then it will be like that because Yarifeth doesn't have a connection with the spirits and cannot communicate with them. So he will haunt her but she doesn't really sense him.
But yeah, if it's the other way around, they Meiles can communicate with spirits
