Description
"No cryin', Pet. You know Meiles' spirit always be wit' ya..."So a few have brought up the question: "Don't blood elves have longer lifespans than trolls? Won't Meiles be dead by the time Yarifeth fully matures?"
The answer is simply... yes. And here's a quick little something to show that
Those who have known me long enough know that I love doomed relationships. None of my couples make it. Ever. Or even if they do, one will die too early. Gahahaha, you guys should thank your lucky stars that I am not God. Because I will give you all happiness ONLY TO TAKE IT AWAY. *cackle*
Although actually, with Meiles and Yari, I haven't really decided who will go first. Because I like the scenario of Yarifeth dying first as well.
Aaaaah. Despair. So delicious...
I drew a continuation pic here:

Yari strikes me as the sort who would always carry Meiles with her afterwards, to the point of almost possibly not taking another man.
Meiles seems more pragmatic, but definitely has an attachment to Yari which wouldn't just go away after she was gone.
All in all, its a poignant scene, and the way you've aged Meiles is very visually effective.

Haha, that was also the word I was using to describe Meiles as I was thinking of the reverse scenario: pragmatic.
He'd of course feel horrible about it at first, but trolls generally are quite good at accepting death since they have a close relationship with the spirit world.

Yeah, trolls always struck me that way. Blood and Night Elves would seem to be slightly less accepting of death, due to their long lives.

Lmao @ if you were God. XD
While I don't love or hate doomed relationships, I sadistically enjoy the "If this character in a pairing died..."concept, or imagine my character's last moments. It's cathartic in a way. There is one doomed pairing I RP with a friend of mine that I absolutely love just for the fact that it is so doomed and depressing.
Anyway, very nice work with the mood. It's so very sad, yet loving. I like Meiles' signs of aging, especially his yellowed, cracked tusks.

Haha, I know, right, there's just something about watching your characters suffer. I have to read about the psychological reason behind that!

well, Elves physically mature at the same rate as humans, they just stay in their prime for hundreds of years. But wow, looks like Meiles is still pumping iron when he's old!

Actually if you check the chart here: [link] blood elves don't reach adulthood until about 60. So Yari would be looking young for quite a while.
And haha, yeah, I'd think he'd want to keep fit even as he ages!

Don't trolls still have a very long life span though? I mean it's been hinted that a lot of races including the night elves were spawned from the trolls after being affected by the well of elune.

That's kind of sad. Maybe as a troll druid I'll live longer being closer to nature. It works for the drenai and the light lol.

Well, tragedy does make for good stories and love is one of, perhaps the, emotion that evokes the strongest responses.
Combine then and you get the most compelling and emotionally evoking stories.
Very beautiful art too. I love the way you did the lighting.
Poses and expressions are very good too.
Now if you'll excuse me, I think I got some dust in my eye...

This is something that I love about belf x troll/orc relationships, the timespans just help build the passion. I love your style, just the expressions and emotions portrayed. Especially the blood elf, just her face is so sad and longing.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh
now you're making me think of what's to come for my belf and troll about oh, 30-50 years into their future...
Can Yari die first*? Don't know about you but I figure spirit healers are IC and old age is just the body wearing out too much to accept the soul back in...
*well. I guess she can if you want her to. duh.

Haha I am planning to draw out the other scenario of Yari dying first ^^ It's gonna be a more tragic one though, since this one won't be a natural death. And you know, she's gotta be messed up pretty badly if he can't take her to be revived.

I thought blood elves aged like humans, because they'd been away from Teldrassil for so long. I could be wrong though.
Such a sweet picture, though!

No, they still live long, but not as long as Night Elves. Night Elves live to about 1000 years average, while Blood Elves die at around 300.

Up to about a 1000. 300 is for half-elves.

yapi In reply to Zaebrael [2010-11-19 22:18:15 +0000 UTC]
I think you were looking at the number in the parentheses and I was looking at the numbers outside. I think the (or up to 2000) lifespan indication is for those who live an exceptionally long time. Like how, in real life, most humans are expected to live to 75-85, but there are those very few who live to be 110.
I went with the average instead of the rare.

Zaebrael In reply to yapi [2010-11-20 00:06:49 +0000 UTC]
The numbers outside the parenthesis is dice numbers rather than lore numbers. Make it easier for players as is done with DnD rules as well.

High elves live to the 1000s. All elves have a generous longevity Think DnD really.
