Unitard, gloves and leg warmers by me, tail, collar and shoes from my Rumple and wig made by 'Dramatical cat' and on loan from Kid who kindly sent it to me for some photos.More here: [link]

sooo. for beta club, I'm doing Macavity the mysery cat with my frind. can you give me some tips on how to make the wig? and where did you get/ how did you make the leg warmers? thanks!

Interestingly I'm nearly finished with my Macavity costume. Deadline is next week *fail*
The leg warmers are knit and for a Macavity wig I'd go for kanekalon all the way, normally my CATS wigs are made from crepe hair because of its beautiful natural texture but it doesn't have the length needed for Macavity, his hair is pretty long. Just make yourself a wigcap from an old pair of tights/pantyhose and then glue on the hair.

I tend to use a lot of Snaz waterbased paints but sometimes I'll use Ben Nye cremes or Grimas cremes.

What sort of dye do you use for your unitards? It's a great effect!

I use fabric paints, real productions use acid dyes but for a cosplayer it would just be too expensive and you have to steam set them which is a pita when you live in a tiny flat!
So yeah, just regular fabric paints

Even for the large areas of color? Impressive! It isn't something like the glossy/stiff Tulip stuff though, is it? I could never see that working well.

No, that stuff I tend to avoid as its used primarily for textures.
Good brands out there are Jaquards, Pebeo and Dylon, I use a little of all of them depending on what colours are available to me. This Deme was painted with Jaquards dy-na-flo in one of the yellows, its really runny so you can just sponge it all over really easily to get a nice even base coat.

Yeah we'll be cats on the 31st so look out for us, I've just finished this Deme for a friend who will wear it on the 31st but I've also got an Oc that I'll be wearing (hopefully I'll upload pics before the Expo...look out for me!!) and then a Macavity too.

Thanks! TBH I had a bit of a shock when I got that yellow base coat on. It was one of those "should I wash it out" moments but I'm glad I didn't! Glad you approve
